Product Description
HDTV technology delivers exceptional picture quality and a real movie-viewing experience that makes television more dynamic, truer and compelling than anything you've ever seen before. Philips' goal has been to create modern classics that promise enjoyment and intuitive functionality before they're even turned on.Whether watching cable or a DVD movie, the optimum way to view movies through a home entertainment system is the way the director saw them. Which is wide. After all, why would you want to watch a film in a format that cuts large chunks of detail out? Pan-and-scan is a thing of the past with Philips Widescreen. Because now cinema is presented, in a 16: 9 aspect ratio, to conform with the natural horizontal human field of vision. Widescreen viewing provides consumers with a home cinema viewing experience that comes as close as possible to the director's vision without compromising the original content of the film.Philips is setting new standards for the convergence of technology and design. You'll notice that sleek, sophisticated exteriors can actually seduce customers. This is because Philips' award-winning industrial design lifts the PTV to new heights of elegance. Its silver finish and refined design whisper urban origins. Yet it fits smoothly into interior d?cor like nothing else on the market, and is light-years away from the awkward "black box" syndrome.
Amazon.com Product Description
A mere 2 feet deep, Philips' 51-inch, high-definition projection television offers a massive image while occupying a minimum of floor space. And you'll be ready to enjoy seamless, detailed HDTV signals in all their glory: full 1080i resolution via a digital set-top box (not included). Progressive-scan DVD players and satellite receivers are also terrific source components for this set, which includes a wealth of picture-enhancing technologies.

Designed to meet the demands of curved CRT faceplates, Philips' 35-point convergence brings with it the accuracy of digital technology for flawless convergence of red, green, and blue electron guns and a superb picture with no colored haloes.

If a video image remains stationary, it can eventually burn a permanent after-image into the screen. Automatic Phosphor Aging Compensation (APAC) periodically shifts your television picture in increments that are tiny, but still large enough to blur image retention. Active Control performs continuous picture analysis and maintains control of Automatic Digital Noise Reduction and auto sharpness. A three-line digital comb filter gives you Improved chroma/luminance separation over standard 2-line glass comb filters for a difference you can really see.

Eye Fidelity gives you a choice between 2 different scanning techniques: progressive and interlaced scanning. Progressive scanning doubles the number of visible picture lines per field by displaying all picture frame lines at once, eliminating line flicker. Interlaced mode reduces annoying motion artifacts and helps smooth jagged lines sometimes seen on images of curved and angled surfaces.

The set's dual-tuner picture-in-picture lets you monitor one TV channel while simultaneously watching another. Its 10-watts-per-channel sound system offers both Virtual Dolby Surround and Incredible Surround, processing circuitry that produces the sensation of surround sound without the hassle of installing additional rear speakers. The set uses large, 4 x 6-inch stereo speakers and also features an auto volume limiter to minimize drastic level changes between, say, a TV program and its commercials.

Connections include 3 each composite- and S-video inputs, 2 component-video inputs (1 HD, 1 standard), and a DVI direct digital input for use with a compatible DTV set-top box or other DVI device. A set of audio/video outputs lets you integrate the set with your stereo or surround receiver, and a set of side-mounted AV inputs simplifies hookup of a camcorder, gaming console, or VCR.

The 51PW9363's protective screen filter helps prevent accidental damage to the delicate front lenticular screen.

4 out of 5 stars I Like it!.......2007-01-12

I think it is a good phone! Easy to use, small, and it's pretty cheap. It does what you need it to do, call, and talk...that's all you really need=) It does not have an antenna so you don't have to worry about breaking it and it still has good reception. I would recommend it, one of my friends has one and they like it too....two thumbs up!!!!!

1 out of 5 stars Poor Design layout and quality control.......2006-12-16

I have had only two other phones, LG models, before this one and thought it would be a good phone based on the specs and what I had seen. On buying it and getting to fully use it on a daily basis, less than a month, I found it to be a huge disappointment over both my 4yr old and 2yr old LG phones.

The menu layouts are a pain to navigate, not much natural flow in thinking of how to get from one menu down to others. In order to view the calendar you must select view calendar from the `calendar' tool menu where in my other phones you selected calendar and it showed you the calendar how novel. I also found the buttons to feel smaller and harder to use than my previous phones even when comparing them side to side they have similar sized buttons.

I also could not figure out how to adjust the voice volume the option to do so is not in any of the menus. There is a key on the side of the phone, + -, for it but all that key does is show you the `status' of the phone, model information, or change the clock format from an analog to a digital one when the phone is closed on the outer lcd. I admit to not looking into the manual but I've only had the phone for a month and only got to activate it in the last 2 weeks.

This phone is very sleek and this actually causes a problem in I never got comfortable holding it in one hand, I have averaged sized man hands, and using my thumb to dial/type as there was no physical feature like grooves or an antennae for my hand to help hold the phone. I ended up using two hands to type/dial and opening the phone is also awkward without something on it to help my hand secure it while flipping it open one handed.

My biggest complaint besides that I thought the layout lacked any effort is that my phone's screen broke without any impact or accident. I can only guess the screen broke from the force of closing the phone. I kept it in a pouch holster and never dropped it etc in the 31 days I had it before the screen inexplicably cracked.

I have to say that of the 3 cell phones I have had this one feels the cheapest and I have dropped the other two cell phones, both flip phones, and neither broke. I even dropped my camera phone in water once and it kept working this phone could not stand the `abuse' of opening and closing itself.

I would recommend anyone considering this phone either look into buying phone insurance or purchasing something else I will be trying to move to a different phone if possible.

5 out of 5 stars This phone rocks without spending all the $$$........2006-12-07

I have had many phones and this Sony Ericsson Z300a gets the job done. I don't need a camera, GPS, music, etc. Why waste time texting when you can talk faster? I dropped it many times and it's still in great shape. I like the fact that it has no external ant. to get caught on things and break. It's simple to operate, loud clear speaker and clear voice transmissions. Does not come with the stupid belt pack which always have broken anyway.

5 out of 5 stars A verry good phone.........2006-10-04

I purchased this phone because they stole mine and I didnt want to pay a lot of money for a cell phone.. At the begining I didnt want it .. but now I adore that cell phone... Cute design + good features + good price + everyone stops me and tells me .. oh ! what a cute cell phone.. loll..
If you want a phone that works and dont want to spend a lot of money.. this is a great purchase..
