Note: Toshiba 46H83 46" HDTV Projection TV is no longer being manufactured. You may want to consider purchasing the newer Toshiba 46H84 46" Projection HD-Ready TV instead.
Brimming with high-tech features, Toshiba's 46H83 widescreen projection set is ready to render vivid, smooth, and detailed video signals from DVD players, digital TV set-top boxes, digital satellite systems, cable television boxes--you name it. Heading the great features is CrystalScan HDSC, which converts all 480i and 480p signals (as from progressive-scan DVD players and DTV set-top boxes) to high-definition 1080i. This significantly reduces jagged-line artifacts for a smooth, natural image. Selectable 540p, for those who want to maintain a progressive-scan image from a progressive-scan source, is an option in the onscreen menu.
HD Window dual-tuner POP (picture-on-picture) with PIP (picture-in-picture) sound grant PIP functions regardless of your input source. TruView combines the following picture enhancements: black-level expansion, fine white, flesh-tone correction, and color detail enhancer, automatically reproducing accurate pictures with true colors.
A stellar 3D Y/C (4 MB, 10-bit) digital comb filter with Vertical Contour Correction provides accurate processing of RF and composite-video signals for a sharp, clean picture. This high-end filter significantly reduces detail noise, seen as shimmering or flickering, in complex or intricately detailed scenes. CableClear digital noise-reduction circuitry optimizes poor NTSC signals from antenna or cable.
The set's DVI-HDTV input allows a direct digital connection with a DTV set-top box or receiver, while dual ColorStream HD component-video inputs provide the ultimate picture quality from high-definition analog component-video signals (as from DTV receivers, satellite receivers, and progressive-scan DVD players).
DFine high-speed velocity-scan modulation improves contrast and overall picture sharpness by changing the speed of the electron beam as it transitions between bright and dark areas of the picture. HD Dynamic Contrast continually analyzes picture information and sharpens and deepens those parts of the picture with the most detailed information.
Cinema Mode (3:2 pull-down switch) identifies original film-based content from DVDs, then reassembles the frame sequence to more accurately reproduce a film's original 24-frame-per-second material, obviating distortions caused by DVD's 30 fps rate. Further, the TouchFocus automatic digital convergence system creates perfect corner-to-corner focus at the press of a button. Manual override adjustments are available.
For audio, the 46H83 offers SRS WOW, combining SRS 3D (which creates a wide, three-dimensional sound field), TruBass (which boosts bass-frequency perception for more dramatic low-frequency effects), and Focus (which raises the sound image vertically to create clearer voices)--enhancing sound quality through the set's own two speakers (which are powered by 5 watts per channel). StableSound maintains television volume within a preset range regardless of the source signal, and Toshiba's Sub Bass System (SBS) boosts a program's actual low-end audio for heightened dramatic impact.

The massive, 240 x 320 display supports up to 262,000 colors -- plenty of resolution and color depth for your videos and photos. Plus, there's a miniSD slot for storing photos, video, and other media. A 128 MB card is included with the phone.
<B>Calling Features</B>
The 6270's 9 MB of built-in memory can hold all your important contacts. A call list remembers your most recent missed, received and dialed calls, and in addition to a vibrating alert, the phone supports 64-chord polyphonic ringtones. If you're into custom ringtones, the 6270 has you covered; it supports ringtones in a dizzying array of formats, including MP3, MP4, AAC, AMR, WB-AMR (TrueTones), and MIDI. Meanwhile, a speakerphone lets you talk hands-free while you're doing other things, and picture caller ID lets you assign a photo to specific callers. Similarly, a ringer ID lets you assign ringtones to callers. Voice dialing is also supported.
The phone's Bluetooth wireless technology lets talk freely on a wireless headset or sync up seamlessly with your PC and other compatible Bluetooth devices.
<B>Messaging, Internet, and Tools</B>
The 6270 has all the bases covered when it comes to messaging. Support is built in for sending and receiving text, video, graphics and sound via messages. When used in combination with the phone's built-in camera, MMS opens up a whole new world of messaging fun. A built-in email client supports POP3, IMAP4, and SMTP, as well as email attachments. There's an included Wireless Village IM client, too.
Getting on the Internet is easy with the 6270, as well. It supports the GPRS protocol, as well as the new, high speed EDGE data protocol. When used with your carrier's data service and the phone's USB or Bluetooth data capability, the phone can be used as a wireless modem for laptops and PDAs. There's also a built-in browser for downloads and mobile Web browsing. The browser also supports full HTML Web sites. T9 text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit-- a plus for mobile text messaging users.
A number of handy productivity tools are bundled with the 6270 including a voice memo recorder, an alarm clock, a calculator with currency converter, a calendar, and a to-do list. And because the phone supports the SyncML synchronization standard, you can easily sync your PC-based contacts.
<B>Imaging and Entertainment</B>
The 6270's built-in 2-megapixel camera captures stills and video to the phone's internal memory, or to a miniSD memory card. Pictures are designed to be taken in landscape mode, allowing you to take full advantage of the 6270's massive screen real estate. Videos are captured in 3GPP format.
Into music? You're in luck with the 6270. Store your favorite MP3, M4A, or AAC -based music on the 6270 and listen whenever the feeling strikes you on the built-in stereo speakers. When you want to jam out in private you can hook up a stereo headset. Lastly, if you want to dress up the 6270, picture effects, custom screensavers, backgrounds, and themes can be set to fit your personality.
Java support is built into the 6270, making it a powerful gaming companion. You can also use the handset's USB data connection to load more games and files onto the phone.
