First and foremost, the 6030 is designed for stylish simplicity. Large, easy-to-press buttons are arranged on a sleek oval-shaped case, which is compatible with Nokia "X-Press On" faceplates. A large 128 x 128 color display resides above a five-way center button that controls most of the phone's menus and functions. A 2.5mm headphone jack is provided if you want to use a wired headset for calls or the included FM radio. Note that stereo sound is not available, however. Lastly, the 6030 uses an internal antenna -- meaning there's nothing to snag or break off.

Calling Features
The 6030's built-in address book can store up to 500 contacts for quick and easy management of phone numbers and addresses. In addition to a vibrate alert, the phone is compatible with MP3 and MIDI ringtones. Different ringtones can be set for groups of callers so you know who's calling without having to look at the device. A call log keeps track of your recent dialed calls, as well as your most recent missed or received calls. Plus, there's a speakerphone so you can talk all you want without having the phone to your ear.

Messaging, Internet, and Tools
The 6030 has all the bases covered when it comes to messaging and Internet connectivity. Use the phone's built-in picture messaging capability to send text, graphics and pictures to your friends. The phone features support for instant messaging applications (carrier messaging charges may apply), and there's a built-in web browser for wireless downloads and mobile web browsing. T9 text entry, a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit-- a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.

A number of handy software tools are bundled with the 6030 including a calculator, a calendar, and an alarm clock.

Imaging and Entertainment
Customize the graphics on the 6030's screen to give your phone a look that suits your tastes. Plus, the 6030 is Java enabled, meaning it supports games written on the Java platform. And don't forget the handy FM radio. Tune your favorite stations and listen on the go with a headset (not included).

I bought this phone as a gift for my husband as his old phone fell into the water :) I purchased this phone only for its simplicity and compactness and this phone has not given us any problem till now-its been 6 months and seems like it will go on for quite sometime.

Has everything I wanted except about the FM radio. you need to have a headset connected and it has to have a 3/32" jack. Also only certain headsets work with it. It could use a camera but for its price, it's good enough

A classy, basic GSM phone for those who are about to talk........2006-09-10

After looking here for an inexpensive, unlocked/unbranded, basic GSM phone, I bought this little gem. Pleasantly surprised at the quality and features. It's just the right size for a candybar phone: just thick enough to hang on to, and slightly bigger than a credit card, so it hides easily in a pocket.

Features: FM radio works well, but you will need a special earphone/headset to hear it. Speakerphone works extremely well; I can hear it clear across the room. Handset volume is very good, and the sound quality is unique; very intellegible and the incomming caller's voice almost sounds three-dimentional in quality. Plenty of room for storing numbers. Plastic buttons on the front are raised just enough to be easy to push despite their small size. L/R function buttons on the top are function assignable. Screen is bright and easy to read. Menus are well designed, and the icons can be turned off in favor of text menuing. The undocumented 'auto volume' feature raises/lowers handset volume according to background noise levels so that you don't have to fiddle with it during calls.

The battery charges quickly and holds a charge for nearly 2 weeks for me. The back cover slips off fairly easily which might be a problem for others, but not for me. The black/chrome cover theme is classy and masculine. Forget about MP3's, pictures, bluetooth: it won't be found on this phone. This phone is about TALKING and nothing else. If you want a simple, rugged, reliable GSM cellular phone for just talking, this is a great way to go. This is a perfect tool for the over-40 crowd.
