Design
The t209 sports a slim, sleek clamshell design with a large 128 x 160 color display with 65,000 colors. A supplementary, 96 x 64 monochrome OLED screen on the front of the cover keeps you up to speed on time, date, call information, battery and signal strength, and more. Up and down buttons for volume control are placed on the left side. Most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's control pad. There's also a standard jack to accept universal hands-free headsets, while the phone's charging port is placed on the bottom of the unit. And because the t209's antenna is housed inside the phone, there's nothing to snag or break off.

Calling Features
With a big 500-contact address book, the t209 is designed to hold all of your important calling information. The phone also features 40-chord polyphonic ringtones, and in addition to the built-in ringers you can download additional ones from T-Mobile's t-zones service. A vibrate alert silently notifies you of incoming calls when you want to be discreet, and a handy speakerphone lets you talk handsfree or hold conference calls. Meanwhile, ringer and picture ID lets you assign photos and ringtones to callers. Like all T-Mobile phones, the t209 also supports voicemail, caller ID, conference calling, call forwarding, call waiting, call hold, built-in paging, and access to T-Mobile's 411 service.

Messaging, Internet, and Tools
Powerful messaging and Internet capabilities are built into the t209. Support is provided for sending and receiving pictures, text, graphics, sound and video via MMS messages. Instant messaging is also supported via the AIM and Yahoo! messaging clients (T-Mobile messaging charges apply), and there's also a built-in web browser for t-zones downloads and mobile web browsing. T-Mobile's t-zones service lets you receive and send emails, read news headlines, get weather updates, download games and ringtones, and more. T9 text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit-- a plus for mobile text messaging users.

A number of handy software tools are bundled with the t209 including a calculator with a unit converter, an alarm, a voice memo recorder, a to-do list, and a calendar.

Entertainment
The t209 allows you to set screensavers, themes and wallpapers to suit your tastes. The phone is Java enabled, meaning it supports games written on the Java platform. The unit ships with several games and more are available via the t-zones service.

The Samsung SGH-t209 weighs 3.3 ounces and measures 3.5 x 1.9 x 1 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 5 hours of digital talk time, and up to 8 days of digital standby time. It runs on the 850/1800/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS frequencies. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.

Not bad for the most basic phone.......2007-06-05

I've been using this Samsung just temporary and it's not a bad phone for the most basic kind. I've had every phone known to man practically, high-end, low-end, sidekick, palm treo, and this Samsung is a good little phone. I actually like having a camera on my phone and this phone doesn't have one which is why its only temporary for me. The screen is clear, the rings are loud, people can hear me and I can hear them fine.

If you want the most basic phone with no camera, then go for this one!

Terrible Phone but attractive.......2007-01-09

This phone suffered from very short battery life and people always thought I was in a very windy or noisy location while I talked. I returned it right away.

in past, I had three sumsung phone, others work well, but this one is aweful, i returned it and changed to T619

I had this phone for a month and I loved it. It is easy to use and small. The interface is simple and can easily be understood without an instruction manual. It doesn't however have good resistance to water damage. I used the phone after a work out and the sweat from my face was enough to permanently damage the phone.

This phone has color so you can find it...a v good ear piece-hands free/okay speaker phone...but my fave is a window w/ date/time...day of week..hehe...for me...I love it!
This phone is balanced in your hand and has a battery that is the back of your phone....it's not going bye-bye once you own it...hmmm...."The Price"....?? You stole it...gotta go to Sheriff Joe in Phoenix.....hehe lol!
He and she will like....unless they need blue teeth.
