The Basics

Hard Drive: Large and in charge, the 120 GB hard drive (5400 RPM) offers enough to room to hold a digital audio library of over 20,000 songs and still have room left over for movies, games, and a large collection of software. This Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive also quickens the pace with a higher speed transfer of data--akin to FireWire and USB 2.0.

Processor: The Intel Core Duo T2300E processor is built with the Mobile Intel 945PM Express chipset, and it has a 1.67 GHz processor speed, super-fast 667 MHz front-side bus (FSB), and large 2 MB L2 cache. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance. The Intel Core Duo processor has two computational execution cores in a single processor, providing greater system response when running multi-threaded applications simultaneously with no significant increase in power consumption. It's optimized for multitasking and is ready to support the next version of Microsoft Windows, code-named Vista. It can simultaneously run multiple demanding applications--such as graphics-intensive games or serious number-crunching business productivity applications--while downloading music or running virus-scanning security programs in the background. It's more efficient, thanks to Intel's Power Coordination and Deeper Sleep, which help to transfer power only to those areas of the processor that need it. Memory: The 2 GB of built-in memory (PC4200, DDR2 SDRAM, 2 x 512 MB) is an excellent start for power users, and it offers excellent 533 MHz speed. It has two memory slots, enabling you to add a maximum of 4 GB to handle immersive 3D video games, video editing, graphics-intensive presentations, and multiple open business productivity applications. Also, to receive the benefits of the dual-channel DDR2 RAM, any RAM additions require memory modules of same capacity and clockspeed.

CD/DVD Drive: The double-layer DVD drive is compatible with a wide range of formats, including both DVD+RW and DVD-RW discs, CD-RW discs, and dual-layer (DL) DVD+/-R discs, which can hold up to 8.5 GB of data--great for backing up your MP3 collection or your most important documents. It features the following speeds: 2.4x DVD+R DL, 2x DVD-R DL, 4x for both DVD+RW/-RW, 8x for both DVD+R/-R, 5x DVD-RAM, and 24x/10x for CD-R/RW. It reads DVD-ROM discs at 8x and CD-ROMs at 24x.

Video is powered by the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950, which uses Intel Dynamic Video Memory Technology (DVMT) and provides up to 128 MB of shared video memory. It offers both VGA and S-Video output connections for connecting to monitors and TVs.

Purhased this laptop in September 2006. Received in October 2006. Blew up 3 days later while hooking up the TV tuner. Toshiba had me send it to their local representatives for repair. It stayed in their shop until January of 2007. Finally around Jan. 21, 2007 they replaced this laptop with the P105-S6064 which I do not like. I had to sign my life away to get this slow beast. I did not have a laptop for over 100 days. Beware Toshiba, their representatives and customer service are hard to deal with and in my opinion speak with forked tongues.

Great Screen - has a lot packed in it. Very powerful machine!
Also Laptop has a lot of RAM. It has amazing multimedia capabilities. I use it as a desktop computer for my home, also use it to watch DVDs and watch TV through the amazing TV Tuner that came with it!!!!

I bought this computer two month ago, the performance is great, the tv system is excelent and you can record your favorite series to watch later or burn a dvd, the equipment brings a remote control for tv feature only, the laptop is some heavy, however, this machine replaced my desktop, then this is not a problem for me, but if you want a laptop probably the weight can be a problem, the extra number keys is good...

Yo compre este equipo hace dos meses, el desempeno es excelente, el sistema de television es perfecto puedes grabar tus programas favoritos y verlos en el portatil o crear un dvd, trae un control remoto para usarlo con el tv-turner solamente, es un poco pesada, sin embargo, yo la uso como reemplazo de mi computador de escritorio, asi que esto no es problema para mi, sin embargo, si piensa usarla realmente como un portatil pudiera sin un poco incomodo, al tener teclado numerico convencional es muy comoda, lamentablemente con la sola excepcion del windows todo el software es de prueba, y las licencias se vencieron antes de poder usarla, la de MSOffice si es por tres meses. La facilidad de "fingerprint reader" funciona a la perfeccion. Son ingeniero y utilizo algunos programas de simulacion, y la velocidad es excelente, ah, y finalmente puedo usar Adobe Photoshop CS sin problemas. Recomiendo este equipo ampliamente, pero si lo quiere transportar tal vez no sea la mejor opcion.
