The HP Pavilion s7520n Slimline desktop PC gives you all the power of a fully loaded home/office desktop in a sleek, silvery gray chassis that's one-third the size of a traditional PC tower, enabling you to place it unobtrusively anywhere--from your office to entertainment center to kitchen. Typically found in laptops, this slimline model is powered by the 1.8 GHz AMD Turion 64 ML-34 processor, which is ready to take on the 64-bit applications of tomorrow. You can easily burn your home video productions to DVD for friends and family with the dual-layer, multi-format LightScribe DVD/CD burner, which enables you to store up to 8.5 GB of data on a DL disc. It features a large 200 GB hard drive, 1 GB of installed RAM (maximizing capacity), ATI Radeon XPress 200M video card with 128 MB of shared memory, multi-format memory card reader, a wide variety of connectivity options (including both USB 2.0 and FireWire), digital audio output for home theater surround sound, and Windows XP Home edition operating system.
The Basics

Hard Drive: The large 200 GB Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive (7200 RPM) offers a wealth of storage space, perfect for storing a vast multimedia collection or for editing digital video. This SATA hard drive also quickens the pace with a higher speed transfer of data--akin to FireWire and USB 2.0.
Processor: Typically used in notebooks, the 1.8 GHz AMD Turion 64 ML-34 processor combines strong performance with efficient usage of power. It's also built for tomorrow's 64-bit applications, which will require a processor with significant power. It includes such AMD technology features as HyperTransport (which increases the communication between integrated circuits), PowerNow! (which enables longer battery life and reduced heat generation), and Enhanced Virus Protection (which works with Windows XP Service Pack 2 to better withstand attacks from certain classes of viruses). It also features a 1 MB L2 cache and up to 1600 MHz front-side bus (FSB). (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance. The FSB carries data between the CPU and RAM, and a faster front-side bus will deliver better overall performance.)
Memory: The 1 GB of installed RAM (PC3200, 2 x 512 MB, 400 MHz) will handle multimedia tasks such as photo editing and digital music management, but it might not be enough for higher end video editing. Unfortunately, due to this PC's compact size, this maximizes this desktop's RAM capacity.
CD/DVD Drive: Offering the latest in DVD writing technology, this multiformat DVD/CD drive is compatible with writing both DVD+ and DVD- disc formats as well as dual-layer (DL) DVD+/-R discs, which can store up to 8.5 GB of data. It features 4x DVD-R DL Write Once, 2.4x DVD+R DL Write Once, 16x DVD+R, 4x DVD+RW, 8x DVD-R, 4x DVD-RW, 16x DVD-ROM, 40x CD-R, 24x CD-RW, and 40x CD-ROM speeds. It also comes with an additional 16x DVD-ROM drive.
This LightScribe DVD+/-RW drive lets you laser-etch silkscreen quality text and images on to CDs and DVDs . Your software, PC and discs work together for a no-hassle way to burn just the labels you want. After you burn content, just flip the disc over, reinsert and burn your label--anything from a simple title to a full-disc work of art.
Keyboard & Mouse: It comes with an HP multimedia keyboard and scroller mouse (both with PS/2 connections).
Graphics and Sound
Video is powered by the ATI Radeon XPress 200M IGP video/graphics card, which delivers good, though not high-end, 3-D graphics. It delivers 128 MB of dedicated video RAM (separate with the system memory). ATI's HyperMemory technology allows the chipset to run in either Unified Memory Architecture (UMA) mode or with dedicated frame buffer memory to enhance graphics performance. It also has an integrated audio card that can produce high definition surround sound configurable to 8 speakers.
Connectivity and Expansion Slots
For expansion, this Slimline desktop has one PCI slot (occupied), one 5.25-inch external bay (occupied), and one internal 3.5-inch bay (occupied). It comes with the following external connectors:

4 USB 2.0 ports for connecting a wide range of peripherals--from digital cameras to MP3 players (1 in front, 4 in rear)
1 FireWire (also known as IEEE 1394 or i.Link) port for connecting digital video camcorders and other peripherals
2 PS/2 ports for connecting keyboards and mice
1 VGA monitor port
1 composite and 1 S-Video out
9-in-1 media card reader on the front, compatible with CompactFlash (Type I and II), MicroDrive, SmartMedia, Memory Stick/Memory Stick Pro, MultiMedia Card, Secure Digital, and XD Picture Card
1 line-in, 1 line-out, and 1 microphone
1 SPDIF digital audio output
It also has an integrated 56K modem (V.90) and an RJ-45 LAN network port (for a 10/100 Ethernet connection to networks and DSL/cable modems).
Preloaded System and Software
The pre-installed Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 (Update Rollup 2) is essentially Windows XP Professional Edition with a variety of tools to help you to create, organize, and enjoy digital media ranging from music to home movies to photo slide shows. The Update Rollup 2 upgrade offers support for the Windows Media Center Extender technology built into XBox 360 game consoles, which lets you access entertainment from your Media Center PC--whether it's live and recorded TV and movies, music, photos or Online Spotlight--on any TV in the house.
It also comes preloaded with Microsoft Works (for working with word processing and spreadsheet documents), Symantec Norton Internet Security 2006 (with 60 days of LiveUpdate), Quicken 2006 New User Edition, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Sonic Digital Media Plus, Vongo, Muvee autoProducer, Microsoft Money, MSN Encarta Plus, Microsoft Office Student and Teacher Edition (60 Day Trial Version), and HP PhotoSmart Premier for editing and organizing your digital photos.
Dimensions and Weight
This desktop measures 9.75 x 4.375 x 13.125 (HxWxD) and weighs 14.2 pounds.

Customer Reviews:
Little pc Big problems.......2007-05-22
I have had this pc for 9 months and we had to replace the Hard drive and now the cd/dvd rom is not working. I have never had this much trouble with a hp before. I don't recommend this Item to anyone. HP has been very helpful so far as to replacing everything under warranty. But what a real pain to have to send everything back. I have to wonder how long the new part are going to last. They have asked if I want to buy a warranty for another year. It makes me wonder.
Cheap, but...cheap.......2006-09-14
If you're looking for an inexpensive and compact desktop system, this is it.
However...
Five months after we got ours, it spontaneously stopped recognizing the wireless USB device we added on. Repeated attempts to get it to work failed. We asked for an exchange, but were refused. After repair analysis, it was discovered that the USB support was incompatible with a new HR Printer I'd bought (the Laserjet 1020). I cannot use the printer with the computer!
It's embarassing that an HP computer won't work with an HP printer. I would recommend something more reliable and "bulletproof" than this.
