Amazon.com Product Description

A perfect mixture of business and pleasure, the Nokia 6233 makes it possible to stay connected to work and play. Get quick access to important information via mobile broadband while listening to your favorite music files through stereo and 3D surround sound speakers. Write emails on the go to colleagues or friends with the enhanced Java email client. Connect easily over-the-air to your office or home PC to share or move information to and from your phone.

<B>Design</B>
The 6233's sleek design incorporates a lavish stainless steel casing made to withstand the rigors of fast-moving professionals. A massive 262,144 color, 320 x 240 display graces the front of the device, while a two-megapixel camera is housed in the rear. Most of the phone's menus and features are controlled by a control pad just above the numeric keypad. The phone also sports stereo speakers capable of producing 3D surround sound, and keys placed on the side of the device control volume and the camera's 8x zoom capability. Meanwhile, a dedicated camera button, as well as USB and infrared data ports, are also provided. The 6233 uses a new, more intuitively-designed version of the popular Series 40 phone operating system. And lastly, a MicroSD memory card slot offers up to 2 GB of expansion (the phone ships with a 64 MB card).

<B>Calling Features</B>
The 6233's internal phone book is designed to hold all your important contacts and provide access to them at a moment's notice. You can also program the phone to speed dial up to nine names, and the phone supports polyphonic ringtones as well as MP3 and eAAC+ ringers, allowing you to use portions of your favorite songs to alert you to incoming calls. You can even choose videos and photos to identify incoming callers. And of course, if you want to be discreet, there's a vibrating ringer mode.

Conference calling is supported (up to five users), and the phone sports a built-in speakerphone so you can talk hands-free. Voice dialing is supported, as are voice commands that make it easy to operate the phone with the sound of your voice.

<B>Messaging, Internet, and Tools</B>
Because the 6233 is aimed at business users, mobile Internet features are very robust. First and foremost, the phone is compatible with 3G data service (UMTS/WCDMA 2100 MHz), allowing you to connect at broadband speeds from the palm of your hand. EDGE data services are also supported. With a carrier data plan, you can easily connect to the Internet and browse the Web with the included WAP/XHTML browser. You can also use the 6233 as a modem to provide an Internet connection to your laptop or PDA via Bluetooth or USB.

Use the 6233's powerful email client to check your personal and corporate email accounts, or create and send MMS or SMS messages with ease. The email client features a spam filter, and you can enjoy full MMS 1.2 functionality for sending and receiving messages including video, photos, and music. Wireless Village-based instant messaging is also supported.<P> A number of handy tools ship with the 6233, including a data synchronization application, a notepad, a language translator, a voice memo recorder, and a currency converter.

<b>Imaging and Entertainment</b>
When you're ready to snap high-quality photos, the 6233 has you covered. The integrated two megapixel camera sports an 8x zoom and a landscape mode for capturing wide shots. It can capture video, as well. The device also shines as a music player, offering a great way to listen and organize your digital tunes on the go. The in-phone media player supports video (3GPP, H.263 video, MPEG-4, AMR) and audio (MP3, MP4, eAAC+, AAC) playback. There's even a stereo FM radio for those times when you want to catch a local broadcast.

And don't forget gaming! The 6233 supports Java-based games, as well as sophisticated 3D games that make the phone great to have along when you need to turn downtime into fun time. The phone ships with Nokia World Cup, 3D Street Racer, and 3D Snake. Multiplayer gaming is supported.

<b>Vital Statistics</b>
The Nokia 6233 weighs 3.9 ounces and measures 4.2 x 1.8 x .7 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 4 hours of digital talk time, and up to 340 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the 900/1800/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE and 2100 MHz UMTS frequencies. Note that 2100 Mhz UMTS service is not offered by any U.S. carrier at this time. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.

2 out of 5 stars WRONG INFORMATION.......2007-01-19

It's not a 850/1800/1900 as amazon says .. It is 900/1800/1900 .I alredy sent an e-mail to costumer service . But they didn't change yet . And probably never will .

3 out of 5 stars Good Phone but not all features will work for your service.......2006-12-01

The unlocked 6233 is a great phone with only one drawback for US users. It was not fully compatible with Cingular's voice mail system. For some reason the voicemail indicator light would not register when there was a message. When it did work it would not register when the message had been deleted. According to both Nokia and Cingular the software for the phone is not updated yet for this Cingular feature as the phone is primarily made for European and Asian 3G and GSM networks.

4 out of 5 stars Another all-rounder candy bar from Nokia.......2006-08-23

Following the 2004 flagship candy bar 6230 and the subsequent 6230i, the Nokia 6233 boasts a number of step-up features over its two predecessors.

Screen resolution is superb at 320 x 240 pixels, although the clock (in standby mode)/ battery / reception indicators could've been larger. The built-in 2 MP camera is nothing like a real 2 MP camera or those you would find on a 2 MP Sony Ericsson phone, but it's quality is comparable to the same built-in digital camera you'll find on the Nokia N-70, minus the LED flash. Also, the 6233 allows unlimited (depending on the size of your MicroSD of course) video recording in VGA resolution, which is far better than what most phones released in 2006 can offer.

The active standby feature on the 6233 is something one would find on Nokia smartphones like the 6680 or the N-series.

The music player has improved a little since 6230 and 6230i, with an actually functional equalizer although the sound output level is way too weak for my liking. One should be careful when switching from digital music playback to radio listening as the sound output level of the built-in radio is a few times higher than the music player output.

SMS on 6233 is a breeze with it's big keys, and delivery reports are now being stored separately in a different folder (nokia used to put them in the inbox).

The phone is a little bigger than a standard nokia candy bar, probably because of its quadband capabilities (900/1800/1900/UMTS2100 for Malaysian models) and the big rechargeable battery BP-6M (it's the same battery Nokia fit into their most recent communicator the Nokia 9300i)that fits snugly into its back.

Recommended for 6230 and 6230i fans.
