A Hard Drive That Does What It Is Supposed To Do.......2007-06-08

We purchased the 120 GB Aegis 2.5 inch hard drive as a back-up for our extensive digital music collection. We've had it for a couple of weeks now and can report that it transfers files as fast as advertised due to the Fire Wire connection and works well as we move it from computer to computer in our home. We have an all Mac network and it is completely compatible. Worth the money.

Just what I needed........2007-05-13

This drive works just as advertised. It is small and powered off the firewire port. I'm using it with my 120 MB Macbook and duplicated the Mac drive on the backup. I may never need it but I sleep better having it.

I am very pleased with this 120gb portable hard drive from Apricorn.

What I like about it:

1) built-in firewire cable;
2) quiet operation (no fan);
3) no external power source needed;
4) small and light;
5) 3-year warranty;
6) fast transfer speeds.

It's really nice to use a drive that doesn't need an external power source. With this one, you just plug it in and go. This saves a lot of desk space and means fewer wires under your desk. It came down to firewire vs. USB 2.0, but I decided on firewire because (I believe) it has a higher power rating for powering devices than USB 2.0, and I had read about some USB 2.0 drives needing external power because the port couldn't provide enough juice. I have been using this drive with my iBook G4 and it works perfectly.

The hard drive comes with a firewire extension cable in case the one attached to the drive isn't long enough. Also included is a neoprene case for the drive. The 3-year warranty sealed the deal for me.
