Sporting a unique clamshell design that's easily portable and protects the screen from bumps, the TAVi 020 (TAVI020-20G) is the world's smallest, most compact PMC (Portable Media Center) with an integrated 3.5-inch LCD screen. It features 20 GB of storage, and enables you to take a wide assortment of video, music, still images, and e-books with you wherever you may roam. It weighs just under 9 ounces and sits comfortably in your hand. It has a nicely long battery life of 10.5 hours of continuous audio play or 5.5 hours for video playback.

It's compatible with MP3, WMA, Egg Vorbis, AC3, and AAC audio files, and it can play Divx 3.11/4/5, XviD, MPEG1 (VCD), MPEG2 (DVD), MPEG4 (WMV and ASF: transcoding software) video file formats. The 3.5-inch LCD screen has a 320 x 240-pixel resolution and displays up to 16.7 million colors. In bright surroundings TAVI instantly adjusts to a brighter screen; when it gets dark, TAVI dims automatically. It includes built-in stereo speakers.

In addition to music and movies, the TAVi 020 also has a digital FM tuner (with record function), voice recorder (via built-in micorophone), and direct line-in recording from audio sources like CD players, turntables, and cassette decks (records in MP3, encoded up to 128 Kbps). You can show off your latest photo slideshows (compatible with JPEG and BMP files) complemented with a background music soundtrack, and also easily read e-books with the Auto-Read scrolling function. Additionally, it offers USB host support, enabling you to connect external devices such as digital cameras or other MP3 players directly to the unit for easy transfer of music, images and other data files without the need for a PC.

It connects to PCs using a super-fast USB 2.0 connection and it's compatible with Microsoft Windows 98SE, 2000, Me, and XP operating systems as well as Mac OS and Linux. It is not compatible with secure/DRM WMA content from online stores or subscription services. Other features include:

Very noisy and not worth the extra expense........2007-04-24

At about twice as much as the 7200RPM 80GB hard drive by the same maker, I just don't think this ourchase was worth it. The supposed speed bump is not noticeable. maybe it's because I am not a professional user with demanding file seeking and writing, but still. What is noticeable? The sound from this hard drive. It's all I can hear now coming from my formerly near-silent Apple G5 tower. It sounds like my tower is an external hard drive now (actually louder even than that) every time the hard drive seeks, you can hear it. As I'm typing this right now I can hear it seeking away. very loud and noticeable. I guess this is an item that really should just be left to professionals who have a specific need for it, not people like me who just like cool computer stuff and are always looking to shave a few seconds of time off of my computer using. Bottom line, I regret the purchase.

What else is there to be said... It is simply the fastest drive out there most regular people can buy. Oh and it is very notably faster than most 7200rpm drives.
