Customer Reviews:
This phone is horrible and Sprint is not helping matters........2007-05-10
My wife and I both have the Samsung A900M phones and are very disappointed in their performance. Both phones repeatedly lose Bluetooth connection to our earpiece and have unclear reception when the phone is more than 2 feet from the earpiece. Both phones periodically lose all battery life within 4 hours of a full charge. The phones also reboot and freeze (requiring battery removal to reset) due to Bluetooth earpiece connection or disconnection. Missed alerts create makes it operate slow and inconsistently. Today, my phone started mysteriously heating up which caused me to remove the batter for fear that it might blow up.
Repeated visits to the Sprint service stores yield only phone replacements with another phone that has the same problems and that is after waiting 30 minutes or more to see a service tech. I even showed them video of these malfunctions. Having the Sprint service plan does not help when they keep giving you the same bad phone.
Best Phone I've Owned........2007-04-17
This is simply the best phone i've ever owned. It has a very durable construction, i've dropped it down a set of stairs onto concrete and only got a few small scratches on it. Unlike the Motorola RAZR V3 I had which fell out of my jacket pocket and cracked the top half wide open. The camera is 1.3MP vs. the average 0.3MP of most phones, although the pic quality isn't astounding. Then again its a camera phone, I use my 8.1MP Sony Cybershot when I want the pics to come out nice. It came with the USB Cable which is nice considering Sprint charges $20-$40 for most other phone cables. The only downside is the battery life. If you use the Power Vision service a lot or use the media player, headset or bluetooth it kills the battery quick. However for normal calls and texting the battery should last you all day. If you need longer battery life then simply buy an extended battery w/door cover here on Amazon for around $20, dont buy the one Sprint sells for $60. The generic one's from BargainCell work just as good for a fraction of the price. I bought one and it was well worth it, I can surf the web and listen to MP3's and still charge it every other day. The bigger battery honestly doesnt add much bulk at all and in fact gives the phone a nice "grip" to hold onto while talking or texting.
The 4 biggest pro's for me:
1. Durable as hell.
2. Great reception, even though it has an internal antennae.
3. Feature packed , media player (music and video), bluetooth, A-GPS, Power Vision and runs on CLDC 1.1 / MIDP 2.0. (meaning it runs the latest java software that older phones can't).
4. Large bright vibrant screen. 320x240 pixels
Cons:
1. Short battery life if you are a heavy user. (Fixed with a $20 extended battery)
2. Interface and menu's can be slow at times.
3. Low memory (only 47mb useable for Mass Storage, about 10MB for ringers and Applications)
4. No removable memory slot.
I give it 4 out of 5 simply for lack of removable memory.
I'd recommend this phone over the RAZR and Katana!
dissapointing..........2007-04-11
we picked up 2. our prior phones were an older treo & another samsung flip type phone. we both loved our phone at first -- but after about 6 months of use, we more or less hate it.
pros:
- small & elegant
- nice array of features
- voice dialing works very well
cons:
- battery life is short -- although it is relative to battery and phone size
- 1 of the 2 phones is malfunctioning -- screen on the cover freezes up, which accelerates battery drain (life is about 5 hrs because of this).
- memory is a joke -- capacity is easily reached within a month if you regularly use the calendar scheduler. in its defense, i probably should be diligent about removing old appointments each week (i'm spoiled from the treo). if you use voice recording or the camera, you'll fill your phones memory within a couple weeks. even if you aren't at full capacity, there is incredible slowing of phone functions as your memory fills up.
- couldn't get the bluetooth to work consistently on either phones -- whether with earpieces, other phones, or my computer.
bottomline -- overpriced by far! if you simply want a small flip phone -- look elsewhere as the extra bells & whistles are mediocre. if you need a phone for handling a fair amounts of scheduling, get a treo or similar product. in hindsight, we'd pass on the phones -- or if i had to buy it, i'd spend $50 max.
Phone is great.......2007-04-06
I purchased this phone 3 days ago. The phone is a great phone. The only problem it has is the battery runs out to quickly. I was looking for an extended battery and all were to big for the phone. Making the phone to thick. Ill just buy a regular extra battery instead.
Excellent durable phone.......2007-03-16
I was skeptical about purchasing this phone because of its internal antennna. The reception on this phone was great. I am upgrading after about a year and a half of using this to a Palm Treo 700p. I will keep this phone just in case something happens to the treo. This phone has a durable metal case that feels like a $300.00 phone should. Yes I actually paid $300.00 for this not the superlow prices advertised now. There were very minor reasons for me not giving it 5 stars. 1)The interface to get through your contacts is slow. 2) Fact that you can't use Sprint Music files for ring tones after you paid $2.50 per song RIP OFF! 3) I am a heavy user and the battery life of this phone has never impressed me. I spent alot of time charging this in the car after a full charge the night before. At current prices this phone is a STEAL!!!
