Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars good, not great.......2007-05-28

Just got the phone. I like the size, the sounds are good. It's a good phone. Not a great one.
Strengths: decent sound on the music player and the speaker.
Lots of features -- bluetooth, speaker phone, music player, camera, etc.
Display on the outside of the phone (when closed) is nice.

Weaknesses: There are MANY, but they're all somewhat small.
-- MP3 player: the phone DOES NOT play mp3's, it plays WMAs. Maybe doesn't sound like a big deal, but some mp3's don't convert cleanly. I have many tracks that just stop playing 1/2 way through or won't convert at all. Annoying
-- MP3 player: all files must be stored in the same directory, and playlists are used to manage them. OK, in theory, but the playlist management is junk. It's 200 key strokes to get anything in there, and you can't copy playlists from you PC. (well, i can't do it). the only way to get music across is to use Windows Media player and "synch", but the playlists themselves don't seem to synch -- just the songs. So setting up is paaaaaaaiiiiinnful.
-- camera: the camera is ok. The swivel lens is kinda cool. But, while the video recorder can zoom, the camera can't -- go figure.
-- buttons: are right on the side of the phone where you can easily get to them, and where you easily hit them by mistake everytime you touch the phone.

I'm still 50/50 about whether to keep it. The price is good for what you get, and i like the size. But the features are just flukey. I htink i'm going to stick with it, and just whine about it.
But be careful. If you're looking for a small, usable, phone with a lot of features, this is good. If you're looking to use any of the features in any depth, you will probably be disappointed. It's the jack-of-all/master-of-none phone. Sad, cuz it could so easily be so much more.

1 out of 5 stars Not in stock at all.......2007-05-22

I got this phone for free through verizon wireless online with 2-year extension. I had two but one of them went blackout sometimes while answering. It did not even display it was turning off. It was clearly defected though hard to prove since it worked fine most of the time. So I wanted to exchange with the new one. When I call the customer center, they said that I needed to exchange it in store. However, none of the verizon stores had it in stock. After a few more interactions with the customer service & local stores, I could finally order the new one from the warehouse through customer service center. It was very time consuming and I had been annoyed but I was little bit relaxed at the moment. Today, I got another call from customer service that they do not have it in stock. The service representative was also surprised at their not having it in stock though it said in stock even on their computer. Finally, I had to order the other model(LG vx8300) with over-night shipping which costed me $12.99. since I needed to get it soon before 30 day exchange period. It is a big risk buying this phone since they don't have it in stock in case you need to exchange.

My overall experience with this phone is not very good when even not considering no stock annoying. It is amazing that it has a camera/video though it's free with 2-year agreement. But it has poorer talk sensitivity in the same place than LG VX3300 that I used to use. Also, one of two that I received was defected. Further, since no stores have the model in stock, manufacturer warranty is useless. I won't be able to exchange even with refurbished one. Therefore, I would say my experience with this phone was the worst among all the five phones that I experienced since 1998.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent little phone!.......2007-05-22

I got this phone mainly for the bluetooth feature it has. I have a car that has a U-connect system in it and I wanted one that would work with it. This phone is perfect for a busy mom! It holds a charge for a good long time and I hardly ever miss calls due to not hearing it ring. It's plenty loud enough for a busy store. The camera takes excellent pictures for such a tiny little thing. I just can't say enough about this phone, and Verizon just ROCKS anyway!!

1 out of 5 stars Not as good as it appears to be !.......2007-04-12

I saw the SCH A-930 wile in a verizon store lookin for new phone. At 1st this seemed like the perfect phone. I was told by the sales people it can play mp3's . That was the 1st problem i noticed wen i got home with it. It Does Not play mp3's. so i thought no big deal ill just convert to wma. problem 2 was ringtones . i was also told i can create my own ringtone an use my music or sounds as a ringtone . Once again untrue. a mp3 or wma will not work as a ringtone. i wasted $2.00 tryin to send tones to myself before i realized i had to change the .mp3 to .mid then email to my phone an add it to my sounds . I find this to be annoyin to do everytime i want a ringtone. So i thought was the end of the problems. weeks later i started to get new voicemail messages instead of a call . it seems lots of calls dont go through for some reason an you end up just getin a voicemail message. Then i go an get a micro sd card so i can add music. The file transfers went perfect the sound an music controls on the phone were good. i thought everyhting was goin perfect . then the lock for the sd card comes out an the card begins to pop out. as long as the phone is in a case i dont got to worry about losing the sd card but im afraid to take the phone out of the case cause i might lose the sd card . My brother has this phone too an has the same problem with the sd card not locking in place so its not just my phone. Im sorry i ever got this phone.

5 out of 5 stars Great no-nonsense phone.......2007-04-07

i purchased this phone in october 2006 for $50 through verizon and love it. i upgraded from a free LG phone b/c i wanted more features. i don't like big phones and the size of the a930 works for me. the phone is sleak in design and isn't heavy. i love the outside blue display. it's like an alarm clock display, you don't have to press any buttons to see the time. my average daily usage: talk time=2 hours , send & receive text/pic messages=10-15, games=1 hour. i charge my phone every 2 days with battery to spare.

pros: price, produces good photos, crisp & clear display, speakerphone works well

cons: only one direction of the navigation pad can be designated as a short-cut.
