Equipped with RCA's 45-second espX anti-skip protection, the device is ready for active use whether at the gym or on a bumpy road. But that's just a start. More impressively, the RP2440 offers an array of functions above and beyond typical portable CD players, including an optical digital output that connects easily to most modern home A/V receivers, letting you play your tunes through your stereo speakers with the best possible clarity, and an inline remote control with its own LCD screen. The remote lists not only the track number and song length, but also lets you easily search through the CD for a favorite tune.

Playback functions include a 24-track programmable memory that lets you create your own custom soundtrack, CD-R and CD-RW compatibility, repeat and shuffle play, smart resume (starts playing the CD from where it left off), and song skip/search. The device's audio performance is enhanced by the digital bass boost system, which ensures a deep, rich overall sound that belies the CD player's compact size. The RP2440 runs on two AAA batteries, but also includes an external battery pack that holds two AA batteries.
