Amazon.com Product Description
Be prepared for the best and the worst that Mother Nature can dish out with this multifunction GPX radio/flashlight combo. Outfitted with an AM/FM tuner with a digital readout and a seven-channel National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) weather band receiver, the radio is a must for outdoorsmen, people who live in tornado or tsunami country, and plain-old amateur weather watchers. It also makes a great emergency device for camping trips or home survival kits thanks to the flashlight, siren, and personal security alert--all of which qualify as necessities during weather-related power failures or, more ominously, natural disasters. Should a particularly nasty storm befall your town or campsite, rest assured that you can listen to the latest weather and storm forecasts 24 hours a day, receive news reports (or distract yourself with music) via the radio, and still find your way around the basement or campground. In addition, the radio's sleek, rugged housing is water-resistant, so you needn't worry about rain or windstorms damaging its circuitry. Of course, the radio performs in non-emergency situations as well, with an easy-to-read LCD clock and an alarm that keeps you from oversleeping. To ensure that the power doesn't run down at the worst possible moment, GPX included three charging methods for the radio: a hand crank that juices up the heavy-duty dynamo motor, an AC adapter (not included), or a DC-jack terminal for plugging in a cigarette lighter adapter (not included). The radio also requires a combination of two AA alkaline batteries (not included) and two rechargeable ni-cad batteries (included) to run. The combined battery and motor options diversifies the radio's power draw, guaranteeing that the radio won't conk out once the batteries first start to drain.
