It also makes a great emergency device for camping trips or home survival kits thanks to the flashlight, siren, and personal security alert--all of which qualify as necessities during weather-related power failures or, more ominously, natural disasters. Should a particularly nasty storm befall your town or campsite, rest assured that you can listen to the latest weather and storm forecasts 24 hours a day, receive news reports (or distract yourself with music) via the radio, and still find your way around the basement or campground. In addition, the radio's sleek, rugged housing is water-resistant, so you needn't worry about rain or windstorms damaging its circuitry.

Of course, the radio performs in non-emergency situations as well, with an easy-to-read LCD clock and an alarm that keeps you from oversleeping.
