Amazon.com Product Description

Boasting support for Sprint PCS Wireless' exclusive Power Vision mobile web content service, the RAZR V3m is the best RAZR yet offered from Sprint Wireless. The V3m also features a microSD/TransFlash memory card slot, a 1.3 megapixel camera, and more.

<small><b>Slim and powerful, the RAZR V3m supports Sprint PCS' Power Vision mobile broadband services. See it in action (requires Flash).</b> <small></td></tr></table> <B>Design</B>
The RAZR V3m's design takes the standard clamshell form factor to the next level with an impressive, fully-anodized aluminum construction. A large 176 x 220 color display with 65,000 colors dominates the inside of the top cover. The outside cover of the handset sports a supplementary 96 x 80 full-color display that can display caller ID pictures, time, call information, battery and signal strength, and more. The 1.3 megapixel camera lens is housed above this display. Up/down buttons are placed on the left side for volume control.

Most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's backlit control pad, which is precision cut from a single sheet of nickel-plated copper alloy. A charging port and USB data cable port is placed on the bottom of the phone. The RAZR V3m also features 30 MB of embedded memory for storing pictures, videos and downloaded PCS Vision content, and you can expand your storage space with the phone's microSD/TransFlash memory card slot. Note that the phone does not have a 2.5mm headset jack, but a headset adapter is included in the box.

<B>Calling Features</B>
The RAZR V3m's internal phone book can hold up to 1000 contacts while the phone's picture ID system allows you to assign pictures to your most common callers. It also supports polyphonic ringtones as well as MP3 ringers, allowing you to use portions of your favorite songs to alert you to incoming calls. A number of ringtones come preloaded on the phone and more ringtones can be downloaded from Sprint's PCS Power Vision service. For times when you want to be discreet, there's a vibrating alert. A built-in speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear while voice activated dialing makes calling your friends, family and associates as easy as saying their names. Speaker-independent technology allows any speaker to dial numbers with the voice dialing system. And because the RAZR V3m is Bluetooth enabled, wireless headsets can be configured with the phone for total handsfree operation.

<table align=left width=250 cellpadding=10> <tr> <td> <img src="http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/wireless/detail-page/sprintv3m-2.jpg" border=0 align=top>

<small><b>Enjoy streaming video from CNN, Fox, The Weather Channel, NFL Mobile, and more.</b> <small></td></tr></table> <B>Messaging, Internet, and Tools</B>
The RAZR V3m is a messaging and wireless Internet powerhouse. Support is built in for sending and receiving pictures, text, graphics, sound and video via messages. When used in combination with the phone's built-in still and video camera, MMS opens up a whole new world of messaging fun (Sprint PCS text messaging charges apply). There's also a built-in web browser for downloads and mobile web browsing. You can trade stocks online, compare prices while shopping, access flight information, get movie listings and find directions to the theater. iTap text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit--a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.

With support for the EV-DO high-speed data standard, the RAZR V3m is fully compatible with Sprint's Power Vision service. With Power Vision, you can download and stream high-quality video, straight onto your phone. Enjoy full-color video clips or live TV of the latest news, sports, and entertainment from brands you know, like CNN, Fox, The Weather Channel, NFL Mobile, and more. Power Vision also serves as a portal for enhanced games. Graphically-enhanced games for one or multiple players provide hours of entertainment.

Sprint's music service is another EV-DO-powered service that makes the V3m all the more desirable. With the Sprint Music Store, your phone is a music player, letting you buy, download, and then jam out wherever you are with new songs or old favorites. Save your songs to a memory card with a capacity that's right for you. You can even pause to take a call without missing a beat.

A number of handy software tools are bundled with the RAZR V3m including a voice memo recorder, a calculator with currency converter, a calendar and an alarm clock. The phone supports the SyncML PC synchronization standard, which can be used with Motorola's Mobile Phone Tools PC application to manage and synchronize contacts, calendar and other data with your PC. The RAZR V3m also supports Telenav GPS Navigator, which allows you to enjoy audible and visual turn by turn directions to any address (subscription required; 15 day trial included).

<B>Imaging and Entertainment</B>
The RAZR V3m's 1.3 megapixel camera bridges the gap between phones and quality digital cameras. The camera is also designed to capture video, and there are night and self-timer functions. Embedded animated screensavers and full screen wallpapers are built-in so you can set up the RAZR V3m to suit your tastes. The RAZR V3m supports 3D games, as well as other 2D-based games.

<B>Vital Statistics</B>
The Motorola RAZR V3m weighs 3.49 ounces and measures 3.90 x 2.10 x .57 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 3.33 hours of digital talk time, and up to 325 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the CDMA 850/CDMA 1900 frequencies. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.

1 out of 5 stars Worst. Phone. Ever........2007-05-05

This phone has given me problems since the day I bought it. Originally, it was just slow. Slow to load programs, slow to load my contact list, and there was a lag when I typed a letter for text messaging. I had thought that was a function of how many features were on this phone and let it go as a funny (though mildly annoying) qwirk in the phone's software. However, over the past month, things have gotten MUCH worse. Now, it turns itself on an off for no reason. It freezes. It gets no signal 3/4 of the time (I live in Chicago so there should be a signal everywhere). I take the battery out and reset the phone 20-30 times per day. Since Sprint only offers a 30 day warranty on the phone, I couldn't return it since I had it for 6 months. They were going to make me send it to Motorola to get it fixed which takes as long as 2 weeks. Finally, I snapped at the Sprint Customer Service rep and demanded a new phone or I'd go to Verizon for a free one. Since I'd been a customer for 8 years, I'm happy to say they sent me a Sanyo Katana and I couldn't be happier. The moral of the story: the razr is a terrible phone. Motorola is going out of business for a reason. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! (PS - I've had 2 or 3 friends who've had the same problem with this phone. This is not an isolated problem!)

4 out of 5 stars My head said Samsung, but my heart said RAZR.......2007-04-27

-
When I was upgrading to a new phone, I quickly narrowed my choices down to the RAZR V3m and Samsung SPH-M500. I was looking for a thin phone with an internal antenna, camera, and removable memory card.

It was a close call, but I chose the V3m because it looks sleeker (especially in the Project Red version, which I have), is a bit thinner, has a bigger screen, and has a better-looking user interface than the Samsung. However, the Samsung has some advantages as well: overall it is smaller and lighter than the RAZR, has a quicker-responding user interface, allows unlimited video recording time (V3m limits you to 30 seconds per clip), has a micro SD card slot that is easier to access (doesn't require battery removal like the V3m), has better screen resolution (18-bit vs. 16-bit for the V3m), allows voice memo playback through the earpiece (V3m offers speakphone-only playback), and accepts a standard 3.5mm headphone plug (the V3m requires a mini-USB plug).

What bothered me about the Samsung was that it looked bland, had a clunky (albeit faster) user interface, and had a smaller screen. In other words, I fell for the RAZR's looks ... and I'm glad I did! In spite of its shortcomings, the V3m has more features than I will ever use and is well-suited for my needs. Still, if you are more practically inclined than I am and place greater value on sheer functionality, then you would probably be happier with the Samsung.

2 out of 5 stars battery life sucks...customer service is even worse.......2007-03-02

I bought this phone partly because my brother's motorola phone, not a razr but the flat one, lasted for days without having to charge. This razr doesnt even last a day. True, there is much more stuff the 3G phone can do but the talktime and the standby hours indicated on the box is very misleading. I did complain to Sprint but they told me it's good if it lasts for a day. She told me some people charge it twice a day. What the hell is that? Might as well be a landline. Other features that I thought was misleading was that live TV doesnt come with Power vision. I think the ads say you can enjoy live TV but they dont tell you, you have to sign up for ten more bucks on top of the vision plan. Not that I planned to watch TV on the phone but I thought it was misleading. I havent tried the phone as a modem thing. Sprint service is the worst I've encountered in my life. They gave me 5 different numbers to call on different occasions. It seemed like they were deferring it to other departments/Nextel. It would get cut off while I'm waiting. What else...They put you on hold forever. So I had to call probably close to ten times to finally get my battery replaced. Plus the service at the retail store is bad. They told me there was nothing wrong with it. But the battery not lasting one day and saying that's good is just wrong. I charged it for a day as instructed initially but still the battery doesnt last. What's worse is they did something to it so I wasn't able to get any incoming calls. I had to reset it. Maybe there is something wrong with the phone. But if I call in, this will probably happen; i will get the inital customer service, then theyll transfer me to another and say theyll take care of it, it'll get cut off, ill repeat the process, then theyll say call another number, do that, put me on hold for about 30, which then ill call again repeat the process and will do this a couple more times till i come back to the inital service. then theyll do it all at once. so dont do what they say. its just a big runaround they want you to do so you'll quit bugging them. Yes, i'm thinking about ending my contract.

4 out of 5 stars Flashy, Trendy, and... Slow?.......2007-02-26

After having a crappy Nokia for over two years, I was really excited to buy a new RAZR. After playing with the store model, I purchased one with a bluetooth headset (which is amazing, and has possibly even better sound quality than the phone itself). The phone comes with some nice screensavers (and some weird ones) and fun ringtones, it gets great reception, it takes very clear pictures, and unlike the other reviews I've read, it has not had severe enough problems that I have had to deal with Sprint's customer service (so I really can't comment on their speed).
However, I have found that the phone does have a few disadvantages. The main setback is the phone's speed. Often, it freezes while performing some of the simplest tasks, like hanging up from a phone call. In the most severe case, I shut down the phone, and it returned to normal upon powering up, but the problem has become more and more inconvenient over the past couple of months. Another issue is the alarm clock. According to the manual, the user can set the phone's alarm to ring no matter what the volume setting is. However, my phone alarm always sounds at whichever setting it's on. I'm really glad I tested the alarm before I actually put it to use. I don't like leaving my phone volume on during the night, since I have a few obnoxious friends, so this is an inconvenience for me. The final problem is more of a Sprint-related problem rather than RAZR-related. My phone is unable to receive transferred files via Bluetooth from any other non-Sprint phone. Although Bluetooth is amazing when I'm using the earpiece, the wireless network is otherwise pointless.

2 out of 5 stars Looks nice, but..........2007-02-23

This phone looks good. Sound quality is excellent. Battery life is average.
My main problem is with the Transflash. My transflash card socket broke the third time I tried to use it. Of course, that was 8 days after the 30 day warranty had expired. I recommend buying the insurance, or never removing the flash card from the phone.

On the plus side, Sprint told me that they would be willing to sell me a new phone if I wanted it!

When working, the phone is nice. Sprint customer service is another story...
