The Grundig Executive Traveller, a pleasingly small, efficient device, is an alarm clock and shortwave radio that delivers the world's stations with amazing clarity. Short-wave enthusiasts will love the compact size and power, and others will enjoy fiddling with the left-hand dial as static gives way to a panoply of languages and music. The tiny, four-inch-tall radio comes enclosed in a soft leather protective wrap that includes slots for business and credit cards. The radio can be detached from its case to slip in a pocket or backpack, and users can listen through earphones (the sporty kind that are the size of a dime) or through the radio's own built-in speaker. While many items bill themselves as being designed for travelers, Grundig's handheld shortwave is truly useful, allowing instant access to the music and news of the world. Requires two AA batteries for operation. If you want to learn more about world-band radio, check out Passport to World Band Radio, 1999 from International Broadcasting Service. --Jennifer Buckendorff

Need a sleek and sophisticated way to tune into broadcasts from around the world? The Grundig G4B is just the ticket. Grundig has combined a leather wallet and travel organizer with a tiny AM/FM shortwave radio, giving you a place to put all your essentials when you travel.

The radio, which is smaller in width than a passport, sports a handsome silver finish and features analog tuning with a digital frequency readout. Band selection is provided on the front of the device, while tuning and volume controls are arrayed on the side. A dynamic micro-speaker delivers pleasing sound, while a telescoping antenna extends from the top of the radio. An earphone jack lets you listen to stations without disturbing others.

The G4B kit also serves as a handy organizer for your business and credit cards, as well as travel documents. The fine grain leather case is elegant and compact, fitting easily in your breast pocket. The G4B's integrated alarm clock also makes it a handy way to wake up on time for those important business meetings in far-flung corners of the world. The unit operates on two "AA" batteries.

5 out of 5 stars Great Computer!.......2007-02-02

After waiting at Best Buy for about a half hour (being ignored), this is by far one of the best computers I've owned. I've only owned two, but it was a Dell laptop. Don't ever buy a Dell laptop. After a key fell out of the keyboard on the laptop, I got so frustrated and had to buy a new computer. The Dell was so slow, I couldn't stand it. But this computer is far better, and faster. With the deal at Best Buy, I got a 19" LCD Monitor, so it's awesome. You get what you pay for!

2 out of 5 stars Defective DVD drive? No famed customer support.......2006-11-28

Basic problem is I can't move files from old computer to the new GT5228. The GT5228 DVD drive reads all data CDs burned on the old machine as blank. Three calls to Gateway tech support have bordered on ridiculous. I'd be better off asking some teenager on the street. One said I'd be better off returning the machine and buying a Dell (she also said everything was a "third party" issue, so she couldn't help me). Another told me to not worry about the DVD drive and just buy a thumb drive. That's all well and good and might finally get me around the problem, but it doesn't fix the problem that my DVD drive can't write or read a disc for the purposes of transferring files. That's a basic notion. I dread what else might be wrong inside this machine.
