The Panasonic CQ-C9700U high-power, in-car digital amplifier/CD player (70W x 4 channels) controls power amplification by rapidly switching the current on and off to drive the speakers. This promotes cooler operation so higher power can be handled without increasing heatsink size. It also offers SRS CS Automotive 3D sound reproduction technology, which delivers the virtual ambience and soundstage depth of a 5.1-channel surround system. It lets you experience a natural sound filed anywhere in the car, unlike artificial sound-field manipulation by methods such as time delay. TruBass and Focus functions are also provided to bring back the rich bass and sparkling treble tones that tend to be lost in compressed music formats like MP3 and WMA.

Spice up your drive with this CD receiver's 3D action graphics that look especially cool on the illuminated blue display. The 3D Dot Matrix (3DDM) display renders graphics and animations with over 20,000 pixels of resolution, resulting in smooth motion and highly detailed images. It includes six display modes, including a spectrum analyzer and full-motion animations.

This CD receiver not only plays CDs, but also CD-R/RW discs. If you've got WMA and MP3 music files recorded on the same CD-R/RW disc, no problem--this CD receiver can handle it. A radio's IF filter has the job of preventing neighboring broadcast frequencies from interfering with reception of your desired station. Our Radio DSP uses an advanced algorithm to perform this task digitally, so you only hear the station you want. It maintains the optimum balance between noise suppression and sound quality by automatically adjusting the IF filter bandwidth in response to the variable interference you may encounter as you drive.

You can easily upgrade to an external amp system by using the dual preamp outputs on this 4-channel head unit. This allows for a maximum output voltage of 5V and output impedance of 60 ohms that not only help protect the signal from external noise, but also permit low power amp gain for powerful reproduction of transient peaks with minimum distortion. The CQ-C8400U offers the following CD changer controls: track/disc scan, track/disc repeat, and search/random play.
