Add surround sound speakers to your current stereo setup with the Teac A-L700P three-channel power amplifier. By connecting the A-L700P to an existing DVD receiver such as the Teac DR-L700, listeners can enjoy center and rear left/right channels in addition to the two front channels, making movies come alive and giving added depth to multichannel music sources. The 90-watt device (30 watts x 3) isn't built with power in mind, making it a better fit for small rooms that don't need expansive systems, but it does offer such added conveniences such as an interlocking volume control for use with the DR-L700 and five-way binding post speaker connections. It also includes a variable volume control for non-supported receivers. And at 8.5 by 4.3 by 13.4 inches (W x H x D), it takes up just the right amount of space in your entertainment cabinet. Note that the amp only works with expandable DVD stereo receivers with support for surround formats such as Dolby Digital, DTS, or Pro Logic II.

Too Fragile.......2007-01-28
Like the other reviewer, I had to make a return. Not once, but twice due to system glitches. Neither unit worked for more than about 5 min. properly. It has all the right features and I would say is a top of the line unit, but if it can't work properly out of the box, then it's no good to anyone. And very expensive to be so fragile!

I purchased this model after a great deal of research into what was available, and I chose to purchase a top- of-the-line model. I am now learning Japanese on my own, although I did a three month course beforehand.
Etaco, New York, were quite helpful regarding queries I had before purchasing the EJ800, more helpful than other companies I wrote to. It arrived quickly and was very well packaged; however, I had had to return it because the clock was not functional. It took a long time and many emails before I received a new one. Additionally, I had to pay the return shipping costs. The new one works well.
The dictionary part of the device is very good in general, but if you do not know the root word, you might not be able to find the one you are looking for. No electronic translator will translate a phrase or sentence, just individual words except for pre-set phrases. The electronic voice is not great, but it still is a help with pronunciation. It pronounces words in both languages. It is possible to buy a card so that the translator will do other languages as well, but this requires reinstalling the new language each time it is changed.
It is compact and easy to use, looks well, and comes with a good canvas carrying case. The built in battery lasts for a number of hours during use, but should probably be recharged everyday. The recharger is included.
The voice recognition works on the phrase book function only, not on the dictionary, so you have to be familiar with the phrases it carries. You speak a phrase into the machine and if it knows that phrase, it will translate it, but often it translates an entirely different phrase.
Overall, I am very glad I bought it and use it every time I study Japanese.
