Coatings on solid covers rub off.......2007-01-30

I purchased two of these covers (one solid black and one transparent blue) a month ago to protect my new Sprint KRZR phones. Within a couple of weeks I noticed that the black coating had already worn off the inside edge of the front cover. It also came off a little on the inside edge of the back cover. The plastic underneath is white. The only thing I can figure is that these parts got stressed when I installed the covers on my phone and the coating started flaking off. The installation procedure didn't seem too hard, but I had to guess what the proper method was since no instructions were provided. I primarily use a Bluetooth headset and leave my phone in a soft coat pocket with no other items. The transparent cover is still fine, which I attribute to the lack of a surface coating.

The cover comes with a heavy duty clip that I have never used. I tried it when I first received the covers and one of the two clips was extremely difficult to release (which might improve with use). The clip makes the phone stick out too far, which could cause the phone to snag on objects or hit the wall when I get too close.

I would probably buy the transparent cover again, but not the solid one. I wouldn't plan on using the clip due to its bulkiness.

Update: I contacted PCMicroStore regarding the problem and requested a transparent smoke cover as a replacement. They shipped the new cover right away with a return shipping label for the old one.
