Plug your game console into the receiver's dedicated front-panel A/V game inputs--complete with an optical digital audio input--and the VR-7200 will automatically switch to the input and select the proper surround sound processing. Internally, the receiver is equipped with a 32-bit floating point SHARC digital signal processor and a 24-bit/96 kHz audio digital-to-analog converter, which combine to deliver remarkably accurate, explosive sound whether you're playing the newest Halo title, watching the latest Hollywood spectacle, or listening to your favorite hip-hop CD. The audio experience is enhanced by the five DSP modes--arena, theater, jazz club, stadium, and disco--that simulate the acoustics of the most common live venues.

The receiver's dual-source/single-zone operation lets you listen to your game's sound through headphones while the rest of your family enjoys music through the speakers, ensuring the end of entertainment system squabbling. And thanks to the Dolby Headphone processing, which creates an out-of-the-box 5.1-channel surround effect through any pair of ordinary stereo headphones (not included), the game still sounds great. The supplied universal pre-programmed remote control even has ready-to-go codes for the most popular game consoles, including Xbox and PlayStation2.

The receiver is ready for traditional movie viewing, too, of course, with decoding for 6.1 Dolby Digital EX, DTS-ES, DTS 96/24, DTS Neo:6 formats, along with 5.1 DTS and Dolby Digital soundtracks. For the ultimate in flexibility, the VR-7200 offers two component video inputs for such items as DVD players and HD receivers, two S-video inputs, and five composite inputs. It also comes with five video outputs (one component, two S-video, and two composite), along with six RCA audio inputs (including a front-panel input), five digital audio inputs (two coaxial and three optical), and three pre-outs (subwoofer, left back surround and right back surround).
