This high-end component features a sophisticated crystal 24-bit digital processor that allows you to create optimal sound and atmosphere in your home theater. It features a sizeable array of surround modes that ensure you find the right sound for the right situation, and it's configured for 6.1-channel direct input and compatible with 5.1-channel formats as well.
The receiver runs the DTS-ES Extended Surround signal format that creates an improved 360-degree surround-sound impression. Two DTS-ES formats are available: discrete and matrix. The DTS Neo:6 decoder makes adjustments based on the audio source. By selecting the cinema setting, the decoder recreates the intended audio atmosphere. The music setting bypasses the decoder to ensure no loss of sound quality in the front speakers while naturally expanding the sound field in the surround speakers. The Dolby Pro Logic II format further enhances the quality and the emphasis of the sound, with movie and music settings, along with the ability to create a customized sound.
You can get great home theater sound with just two speakers or even headphones. The RD-7108 can translate digital signals into a surround-sound experience. That experience is boosted by three DSP preset modes (theater, hall, and matrix) that allow you to experience a surround effect with any combination of speakers.
With the RD-7108's automatic format detection feature, the receiver will adjust the surround sound settings, based on the incoming digital signal. You can always manually adjust and customize the settings as well. The speaker setup feature allows you to customize the configuration of your speakers, both by size and by location within the room. With the easy setup, you can quickly optimize your audio experience.
The built-in AM/FM tuner features quartz synthesized digital tuning and 30 station presets. For late-night listening, the receiver's dynamic range control can lower the sound without lowering the sound quality, and a sleep timer will shut down the system for you.
The Digi-Link III remote control allows you to control other audio and video components. When you use it with other Sherwood audio and video equipment, you'll enjoy easy, one-touch operation.
The RD-7108 provides 100 watts per channel in both stereo and surround modes.
