Internally, the receiver is equipped with a 24-bit/96 kHz audio digital-to-analog converter that ensures rich, dynamic sound whether you're watching the latest Hollywood blockbuster or listening to your favorite tunes. The audio experience is enhanced by the five DSP modes--arena, theater, jazz club, stadium, and disco--that simulate the acoustics of the most common live venues. As with the best surround receivers, the VR-906 offers decoding for a variety of surround formats, including Dolby Digital EX, DTS-ES, DTS Neo:6, and Dolby Pro Logic IIx. The first three play 5.1- and 6.1-channel soundtracks from the latest DVDs, while Pro Logic IIx converts two-channel audio sources such as CDs and VHS tapes into full multichannel splendor to create a surround-like effect. The receiver also boasts an active equalizer function that adapts to the type of speakers you own (full-range, satellite, etc.) and the type of program you're listening to (movies, music, or TV). The resulting audio can meet all types of expectations, whether you like your audio tight and crisp or full of booming echoes.

Additional audio functions include full digital bass management (sends the deep bass only to the speakers equipped to handle it); automatic signal detection and selection for both analog and digital sources (instinctively switches between CD player, DVD player, or satellite receiver depending on which unit is playing); individual bass and treble controls; and a Midnight Theater mode, which softens loud passages of movies so that people in other rooms won't be disturbed. And, of course, the receiver includes a quartz PLL-synthesized AM/FM tuner with 40 station presets.

Adding to the VR-906's value is its ability to serve as an A/V component switcher (it's HD-compatible), which is ideal for TVs with a limited number of inputs. For the ultimate in flexibility, the VR-906 also offers two component video inputs for such items as DVD players and HD receivers and three composite video inputs for VCRs, video game systems, and other products. It also comes with one component and two composite video outputs, including a monitor recording output. The receiver is stacked from an audio perspective as well, with two coaxial and one optical digital audio inputs, six stereo analog RCA inputs and two outputs, subwoofer and left/right back surround preouts, and a headphone jack for private listening. I do like that the case covers the screen and it slides well, but it's so hard to open the flap to charge it, that I usually take it off. I also have to take it off to use headphones because the case gets in the way of the plug adapter. I did drop my phone a few times and each time the case came off. I haven't been able to find the perfect case for the Chocolate.

I like this clear acrylic case over all the others out there because this seems to be the only one that protects the screen. The others protect the area around the screen but it's open air for the screen itself which to me is probably the most important part of a phone you want to protect.

The case fits well and only takes a few seconds to snap together. It also slides pretty good when opening the phone. There's a little resistance but I think that's to be expected and it will probably slide better after more use.

The cutout areas for hard buttons are good although the SD Card/Charger flaps are very difficult to open with the phone in the closed position. This is really due to the design of the phone but the sliding hinges on the case also get in the way - if they could be reversed (hinges towards the top of the phone instead of the bottom) it seems would work much better, especially for the most commonly used button/flap on this phone - the charging port! For now, just slide open the phone when ready to open one of the port flaps.

The acrylic material doesn't seem that tough. I have an iPod clear case that is about the same thickness but feels much harder. I suspect one drop of the phone and it will crack, but really if it saves the phone from a bad fall once I'd happily buy another. The acrylic is also a little sharp around the edges from it's original molding and cutting.

But otherwise this is the best case at the moment and recommended if you don't feel safe with the cheap eBay ones.
