Amazon.com Product Description

If this isn't the phone Navy SEALs use, it should be. Not only is the G'zOne waterproof, it can remain underwater for a full-30 minutes, and still maintain all of its functionality. That means if you haven't drowned after 30 minutes underwater, you can use the phone's built-in GPS feature and flashlight to find out just how lost you really are.

Super rugged, super powerful. This phone is made for a rough and tumble life that's also fully connected. See the phone in 3-D (requires Flash).

Ruggedized to military standards, this super-tough clamshell is not only waterproof, it's shock resistant, and dust resistant, too. Non-tough guy features include a 2-megapixel camera, EV-DO high-speed data capabilities, a QVGA display, a speakerphone, a built-in mobile Web 2.0 browser, and more.

Design
The G'zOne features a ruggedized clamshell design with a large 240 x 320 color display with support for a whopping 65,000 colors--perfect for watching V Cast content. The outside of the clamshell features a supplementary monochrome LCD screen that can display incoming call information, battery life, signal strength, current date and time, stopwatch functions, and more. The protected camera lens and flash reside on the front cover, just above the external display, while up/down volume controls and a camera control button are on the right side of the phone. Most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's backlit control pad. The G'zOne also features a flashlight, which is housed on the back of the phone, meanwhile, a unique carrying clip is built into the top of the clamshell.

Calling Features
The G'zOne's 31 MB of built in memory is more than enough to support up to 500 entries in the phone's address book. Meanwhile, a voice dialing feature makes calling friends and associates as easy as saying their names, while the built-in speakerphone allows you to talk handsfree. The phone also comes with built-in polyphonic ringtones and a vibrating alert. More ringtones can be downloaded via Verizon's Get It Now service. Ringtones can be assigned to specific callers so you don't have to look at the phone to know who's calling, or you can match pictures with callers to identify them. Lastly, the G'zOne's GPS location technology pinpoints your exact location when you dial 911.

A design that screams for action.

Messaging, Internet and Tools
With support for the EV-DO high-speed data standard, the G'zOne is fully compatible with Verizon's V Cast service. With V Cast, you can download and stream high-quality video. Need news and weather? Get the latest Accuweather forecast delivered right to your handset, or stream CNN news headlines. ESPN sports updates, entertainment news from E!, and even Sesame Street content for the kids, are all available.

With support for sending and receiving text, picture and video messages, the G'zOne has all the bases covered when it comes to messaging, too. Predictive text entry technology, which makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit--a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.

Getting on the Internet anywhere is easy with the G'zOne. Use the G'zOne's built in Web browser and Verizon's Mobile Web package to read and send e-mails, exchange instant messages and view your favorite web content. Verizon's Get It Now wireless download service is also fully compatible with the G'zOne. This pay-per-download service features application downloads, games and productivity tools. You can also personalize your handset with ringtone downloads using the Get It Now service.

The G'zOne ships with a number of handy tools including a calendar, an alarm clock, a calculator, a flashlight and a GPS feature that enables VZ Navigator functionality. VZ Navigator provides heads-up, voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions (with auto-rerouting if you miss a turn); local search of nearly fourteen million points of interest (POIs) in the U.S.A.; and detailed color maps that can be quickly panned and zoomed. With VZ Navigator you will know where you are, know what's around you, and know how to get there.

Imaging and Entertainment
While the G'zOne is a great platform for watching V Cast video content, it can also capture video that can be shared with your friends and associates via video messaging. Of course, you can also use the camera to capture still pictures, too. The camera features 2-megapixel resolution, and an LED flash.

5 out of 5 stars The best phone ever.......2007-06-12

This phone is hte best thing that i have ever had, it can not break. There is nothing i would take back abotu this phoen because it is every thing i need. Every summer i go through about 3 phones to the water that i sail in every day. I spilled milk on it and washed it off in my sink and used soap and water. This phone was built for me!!!! i love it so much!!!!

4 out of 5 stars Feels like a real phone..........2007-06-02

I really like this phone and I have had it about a week. The only issue I have had so far is that the display screen is freezing up on me today. I can receive calls but none of the buttons on the keypad work and I can't get into any menus or anything.

Anybody else have this?

5 out of 5 stars Strongest phone ever, if you want simply and actually working this is it.......2007-05-25

I've been pushing the limits on mine (I know I shouldn't but its just too tempting). It's survived many swims in the pool (down to 12') kayaking, rock climbing, a game of catch between our third story balcony and the parking lot (we don't always catch) being spiked onto a downtown sidewalk (fun to watch others look over) my dog playing with it, and even an accidental dropping out of my pocket while riding my motorcycle at about 45 mph. I don't really care about bluetooth or music so this is simply fantastic. I wish it did have analog for some country spots but oh well

5 out of 5 stars No lifejacket needed here!!!.......2007-05-25

OK like other reviewers, I really don't care what the phone looks like or if it has a gazillion features, it just needs to WORK. I am a firefighter (water) and own a swimming pool service company as a side business. (Lots of water) I was missing my customers calls, due to the fact that my last couple of phones went swimming. Of course water and electronics don't mix. Leaving the phone in the truck just was not working. I was still missing calls. Now I can carry the phone on the job and not worry about getting it wet or dropping it on the concrete deck. (Most phones don't bounce well, either) Overall I am pleased with the phone, it is a little heavy, and somewhat bigger than most. The display area is great, even out in the bright sun, I can still see who is calling. I have a Casio divers watch that I bought in 1985. I have replaced the battery twice, if this phone lasts half that long then I will be well pleased.

3 out of 5 stars Could be better.......2007-05-18

This is my first cell phone in about 5 years, so I really have nothing to compare it with. Overall, it's a good phone: voice is clear and loud, camera is decent. My only complaint is that it cannot respond correctly to voice dialing commands, which makes it harder to place a call. I'm hoping that the new Type-S comes out before my 30-day trial expires so I can trade this in for the newer model. Maybe that one will be able to get the voice recognition commands correctly.
