Nice Case - Terrible Service.......2007-05-19

The phone case seems to be working great with the Nokia 5300. We know that this is a hard phone to find a case for because it is a slide. What they don't show you is there is a plastic groove that has an opposing plastic ridge that slides the two pieces together. Was a little confusing on how to put your phone in the case and connect the two pieces, but we finally figured it out. I am worried that the plastic part that connects these two pieces may break easily. We'll see how it goes.

Now the customer service with Boxwave is a completely different story. When we first ordered this case, it took only a few days to get it in the mail. I was really happy, until I took it out of the envelope to find that the plastic piece that connects the top part of the case to the bottom was broken off when received. So I immediately looked at the receipt that came with the product, and there was only an email address to speak with customer service. So I immediately emailed customer service to explain that the product was broken and that there wasn't any instructions on how to put it together (thinking maybe it could be snapped back in place). This was a Friday that we started this email communication. I also went to their website and looked for a telephone number and there wasn't any numbers listed. I began to worry at this point. I didn't hear anything from them on the following Tuesday, so I sent another email to customer service. By Thursday, I finally received an email back from them, but all it said was that there wasn't any instructions because it was pretty easy to assemble and that if I couldn't figure it out to email them back.

I immediately thought "Wait.... I mentioned that it may have been broken, and they didn't respond with instructions on how to return this". So emailed them back and tried to explain that the plastic piece was broken.

By Friday, I hadn't heard anything back from them, so I sent another email stating I needed a phone number to call them so we could get this item replaced.

By Tuesday, the following week, a customer service person emailed me back and asked me to send a digital photo of the case so they could decide if it was broken. I immedately took a picture and responded with the photo.

The next day, I received another email that said they would replace it, but I needed to let them know if I was going to mail it back and then they would send a replacement or if I wanted an Advance Replacement, where they would charge my credit card for another phone case and then reimburse me when I mailed back the case. I responded with an email that said, I wanted the Advance Replacement, but I wasn't sending my credit card number over the email, so could I PLEASE HAVE A PHONE NUMBER TO CALL THEM.

After that email, I finally got a phone number. I called them with my credit card number and my new phone case was on its way! They told me in this call I would receive a postage paid label to return my case.

After 2 weeks of communication, I finally got the replacement case. But there was no return label with the shipment. So I called them back and they said, it was supposed to come in an email message that I would have to print. But they must have forgotten to send me the label. They would email it to me immediately.

Well.. I finally got the PDF file of the postage label and now have my package ready to ship back. I sure hope they reimburse me on my credit card. This story could continue with another chapter.

So for those of you that decide to purchase anything from Boxwave, be careful that their customer service is TERRIBLE. But I will provide you the telephone number so you won't have to go through the pain I did with this purchase.
