Center channel speakers are arguably the most important speakers in a home theater system, as they shoulder the burden of reproducing the dialogue. The JBL Northridge EC25 handles the assignment with ease, however, reproducing voices with maximum clarity so listeners never miss a moment of conversation. The speaker is equipped with dual 5-inch PolyPlas woofers, which combine to deliver loud and clear low and mid ranges without distortion or unwanted thump. Meanwhile, the speaker's 0.75-inch titanium-laminate tweeter is oval shaped rather than round--JBL calls this orientation Elliptical Oblate Spheroidal (EOS)--resulting in a wider horizontal dispersion of sound. The idea is simple: turn every seat, even those in the corners of the room, into the best seat in the house.

Additional audio attributes include a Straight-Line Signal Path (SSP) crossover network, which divides the signal with minimal processing to preserve its integrity, and sturdy, gold-plated, five-way binding posts that provide the best connection possible. All this in an attractive computer-designed cabinet with a beech finish that virtually eliminates distortion. In addition, the speaker maintains a slim profile at 18 by 6.88 by 10 inches (W x H x D), and offers video shielding to protect the onscreen image, so home theater users can place the speaker directly on top of the TV.

The EC25 perfectly complements JBL's Northridge E Series of home theater loudspeakers, but also fits seamlessly with many other brands. It's also covered by a generous five-year warranty on parts and labor.

very inconvenient.......2007-05-03

Battery cover screw head is very small. you need an extremly small screw driver to open the battery covers. Most people wont have such a small screw driver.

Inadequate sound volums.......2007-02-12

The signal is much too soft to be of practical use. With the receiver sitting unobstructed, it can be heard at a distance of about 20 feet. But it would never be heard if on a different floor or even if there is a closed door between you and the transmitter. And when it was placed inside a purse (for the purpose of locating the purse) the sound could not be heard more than 10 feet away.
