Intended for center channel use within a Polk RM series speaker system--such as the 6800, 6900, 7300, or 7400--the RM202 is sleek and stylized, with a sculpted anodized-aluminum enclosure that looks terrific next to a plasma or flat-screen TV. The speaker offers more than just a pretty face, however. The unique curved shape also breaks up internal standing wave resonance, helping create a pure, more lifelike sound, while the PowerPort venting and dynamic balance technologies produce rich, full-bodied, big-speaker results from a compact housing. As part of a 5.1, 6.1, or 7.1 speaker system, the RM202 helps create a dramatic, remarkably clear sound stage for DVDs and other multichannel formats.
The RM202 is equipped with dual 3.5-inch polymer composite cone midrange drivers for clear, distortion-free midrange and a high-performance 0.75-inch silk/polymer composite dome tweeter for sweet, crisp highs. The PowerPort venting, which hides under the grille, also extends and strengthens the lower midrange performance to ensure a seamless blend with the subwoofer output. The resulting midrange makes movie dialogue and other midrange frequencies sound rich and natural. The sound also disperses broadly throughout the room so everyone can enjoy the results regardless of where they're sitting.
Listeners have several installation options: they can mount the speaker on the wall using the included swivel bracket (which offers hidden wire channels), they can use the threaded insert to mount the speaker on a fully articulating bracket (sold separately), or they can place the speaker on the included center cradle, which aims the speaker toward the listener from above or below the TV. And to top it off, the speaker is magnetically shielded against video interference, so you needn't worry about distorting the image on your state-of-the-art TV or video monitor. The speaker, which measures 12.5 by 4.5 by 5.06 inches (W x H x D), offers five-way binding post connections and is backed by a five-year warranty.
