Hailing from Yamaha's Custom series, this NS-C525 two-way center channel speaker puts the perfect finishing touch on your home theater system. The speaker is housed in a relatively compact mitered construction cabinet with a luxurious black wood finish designed to complement a variety of audio components and TVs. More importantly, the speaker meets Yamaha's high standards for natural sound reproduction thanks to its pair of Advanced PMD (Polymer-injected Mica Diaphragm) 4-inch cone woofers and 1.12-inch aluminum dome tweeter, which combine to produce a frequency response of 57 Hz to 50 kHz. The drivers make movie dialogue sound rich and crisp, adding texture to your overall home theater performance.
The woofers are made of Poly-Menthyl-Penten, a durable material that's 15 percent lighter than most other driver designs. The Advanced PMD cone wall, meanwhile, is thicker than most cones (it checks in at 1 mm) yet weighs the same, giving it greater stiffness. The end result is a faster response time, decreased resonance, a better bass response, and a wider dynamic range. In terms of what that means to your ear, you'll hear richer, more natural-sounding vocals and tighter, cleaner passages that transition beautifully from deep bass frequencies to soaring highs.
The tweeter, meanwhile, features an integrated diaphragm/voice coil called a DC Diaphragm. The DC Diaphragm's extra-powerful neodymium magnet can reproduce frequencies all the way up to 100 kHz, an exceptional number for a tweeter of that size. Also new to the C525's tweeter is a redesigned frame that keeps the high frequencies from degrading due to reflected waves, along with an increased aperture angle on the defuser for a more natural sound transmission.
Additional features that improve the speaker performance include a high-performance crossover network at 3 kHz and a chamfered baffle that reduces sound diffraction. For the best home theater performance, listeners should team the NS-C525 center speaker with the other speakers in Yamaha's Custom NS-525 series, which includes tonally matched front tower speakers (NS-525F) and rear surround speakers (NS-M525). The speaker is also magnetically shielded against video interference, so you can locate it beneath or on top of the TV without distorting the picture. And as a final bonus, the NS-C525's extruded, gold-plated five-way binding post terminals ensure the best possible sound.
