It protects everything but the keyboard, which is fine with me. I still have to lock my keys when wearing it on my belt, so I don't call anyone unexpectedly when I lean on something. It totally protects the screen even during calls, which is a BIG plus in my opinion. The unit was worth the purchase, although I think it was a bit expensive. It IS, in the end, just an aluminum case and plastic. The cost outweighs replacing the phone if it's damaged.
If you want my streight up opinion, I say get it.

after dropping my dash from a belt clip open holster and cracking the lcd, i tried a leather case but quickly realized it was not much protection. i like this case best of the three i have tried. neoprene lining provides some shock protection and holds the phone in place. the window protects the screen and has an almost 3d appearance. the hinge is large, and the door clasp is stiff. the belt clip and screw in button are easy to remove but hold the phone to your belt. the button clicks into the belt clip to let you know it is in place. i have the black case, which looks like darth vader. the metal case is an anti theft device since you can bludgeon anyone who tries to take your stuff.
