The DM603 S2 is the entry floor standing speaker in the 600 Series 2. The speaker comes into its own as a front speaker in larger Home Cinema installations and, as with any model in the range, it is a superb monitor for 2-channel audio. The 2?-way system uses a second bass-only driver to supplement the output of the upper bass/midrange driver in the lowest octaves. This arrangement improves system power handling and reduces demands on the bass/midrange driver, which in turn improves midrange clarity. Having only the upper cone driver operating in the midrange preserves good dispersion in the vertical plane. Each of the two drivers operates in its own isolated chamber, the upper one being ported to the rear of the cabinet.
