One of the best values in a floor-standing speaker is the three-way bipolar model named Tower by Henry Kloss. It delivers highly accurate, wide-range sound with precision and dynamics comparable to speakers selling for thousands of dollars more. Its bipolar dispersion pattern ensures a proper stereo effect at the widest variety of listening positions, and lends a feeling of three-dimensional openness to the sound.The combination of its wide-range dynamic sound and bipolar design produces a listening experience that is remarkably unique. Tower features wide-range, stereo imaging and natural tonal balance with efficiency, dynamic range and "presence", plus the open realism of a bipolar speaker, resulting in sound that is nothing short of incredible. It is spectacularly realistic.Tower has two forward-facing 8-inch polypropylene woofers; a forward-facing 5 1/4-inch polypropylene midrange driver; a 1-inch soft-dome fabric tweeter; and separate rearward-facing midrange and tweeter units identical to those used in front. A flared low-frequency vent is located at the lower rear. Tower's large enclosure and twin 8-inch woofers deliver bass response that is not only deep and accurate, but is also very dynamic, with tremendous "punch."Each Tower speaker is magnetically shielded and has separate sets of gold-plated connecting posts, a pair for the woofers and a pair for the mid- and high-frequency drivers, which allow you to use bi-amp or bi-wire options. Bi-amplification involves using separate amps for the low frequencies and the mid/high frequencies, noticeably reducing audible distortion and creating an open, "effortless" sound quality. Bi-wiring uses one amp with two sets of wires, one for each frequency range. This increases the current flow and subtly reduces intermodulation distortion.Tower is an incredible speaker, offered at a very reasonable price.
