The 6-piece Plat-6 surround-sound speaker system from KLH provides a cool-looking and affordable way to experience thrilling multichannel sound from your Dolby-/DTS-encoded DVDs and high-resolution DVD-Audio and Super Audio CDs. Built around the stylish, silver Platinum II Series 325 II bookshelf speakers, the system also includes a 4-driver center-channel speaker and a 100-watt powered subwoofer with a 10-inch, long-throw woofer to bring that extra degree of sonic realism and drive home your programs' low-frequency effects.

The 2-way left/right front and surround speakers each use a pair of 3.625-inch midrange woofers and a .875-inch liquid-cooled dome tweeter. Efficient and easily driven, the speakers are rated for use with amplifiers and surround receivers supplying anywhere from 5 to 125 watts per channel. The broad, relatively flat center speaker uses four 3.625-inch drivers and the same tweeter so you'll enjoy balanced, timbrally matched sound all the way around.

The sub uses a down-firing, long-throw woofer for deep, powerful bass down to an impressively deep 30 Hz. A low-pass filter rolls the top end of the sub's frequency response so you can match the low end of the satellites' range, ensuring seamless integration between them. The sub's variable crossover circuit ranges from 40 to 180 Hz.

The satellites and center speakers are magnetically shielded, so they can be placed on or near a TV or video monitor without degrading the picture via stray magnetic fields.
