Amazon.com Product Description

Sprint's Red RAZR V3m by Motorola was designed exclusively to support (Product) Red, an initiative founded by Bono and Bobby Shriver to raise awareness and money for the Global Fund, a program that helps fight AIDS in Africa. (Product) Red is an ultra hip way for you to help while taking advantage of Sprint PCS Wireless' exclusive Power Vision mobile Web content service. Other features include a microSD/TransFlash memory card slot, a 1.3-megapixel camera, Bluetooth support, GPS capability, and more.

Slim and powerful, the RAZR V3m supports Sprint PCS' Power Vision mobile broadband services. See it in action (requires Flash).

Design
The RAZR V3m's design takes the standard clamshell form factor to the next level with an impressive, fully-anodized aluminum construction. A large 176 x 220 color display with 65,000 colors dominates the inside of the top cover. The outside cover of the handset sports a supplementary 96 x 80 full-color display that can display caller ID pictures, time, call information, battery and signal strength, and more. The 1.3-megapixel camera lens is housed above this display. Up/down buttons are placed on the left side for volume control.

Most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's backlit control pad, which is precision cut from a single sheet of nickel-plated copper alloy. A charging port and USB data cable port is placed on the bottom of the phone. The RAZR V3m also features 30 MB of embedded memory for storing pictures, videos, and downloaded PCS Vision content. You can also expand your storage space with the phone's microSD/TransFlash memory card slot. Note that the phone does not have a 2.5mm headset jack, but a compatible stereo headset is included in the box.

Calling Features
The RAZR V3m's internal phone book can hold up to 1000 contacts while the phone's caller ID system allows you to assign pictures and specific ringtones to your most common callers. It also supports polyphonic ringtones as well as MP3 ringers, allowing you to use portions of your favorite songs to alert you to incoming calls. A number of ringtones come preloaded on the phone and more ringtones can be downloaded from Sprint's PCS Power Vision service. For times when you want to be discreet, there's a vibrating alert. A built-in speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear while voice activated dialing makes calling your friends, family, and associates as easy as saying their names. Speaker-independent technology allows any speaker to dial numbers with the voice dialing system. And because the RAZR V3m is Bluetooth enabled, wireless headsets can be configured with the phone for total handsfree operation.

Enjoy streaming video from CNN, Fox, The Weather Channel, NFL Mobile, and more (black version shown).

Messaging, Internet, and Tools
The RAZR V3m is a messaging and wireless Internet powerhouse. Support is built in for sending and receiving pictures, text, graphics, sound, and video via messages. When used in combination with the phone's built-in still and video camera, MMS opens up a whole new world of messaging fun (Sprint PCS text messaging charges apply). There's also a built-in Web browser for downloads and mobile Web browsing. You can trade stocks online, compare prices while shopping, access flight information, get movie listings, and find directions to the theater. iTap text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit--a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.

With support for the EV-DO high-speed data standard, the RAZR V3m is fully compatible with Sprint's Power Vision service. With Power Vision, you can download and stream high-quality video, straight onto your phone. Enjoy full-color video clips or live TV of the latest news, sports, and entertainment from brands you know, like CNN, Fox, The Weather Channel, NFL Mobile, and more. Power Vision also serves as a portal for enhanced games. Graphically-enhanced games for one or multiple players provide hours of entertainment.

Sprint's music service is another EV-DO-powered service that makes the V3m all the more desirable. With the Sprint Music Store, your phone is a music player, letting you buy, download, and then jam out wherever you are with new songs or old favorites. Save your songs to a memory card with a capacity that's right for you. You can even pause to take a call without missing a beat.

A number of handy software tools are bundled with the RAZR V3m including a voice memo recorder, a calculator with currency converter, a calendar, and an alarm clock. The phone supports the SyncML PC synchronization standard, which can be used with Motorola's Mobile Phone Tools PC application to manage and synchronize contacts, calendar, and other data with your PC. The RAZR V3m also supports Telenav GPS Navigator, which allows you to enjoy audible and visual turn by turn directions to any address (subscription required; 15 day trial included).

Imaging and Entertainment
The RAZR V3m's 1.3-megapixel camera bridges the gap between phones and quality digital cameras with its included advanced night mode and self-timer functions. The built-in camera is also designed to capture video. Embedded animated screensavers and full screen wallpapers are built-in so you can set up the RAZR V3m to suit your tastes. The RAZR V3m supports 3D games, as well as other 2D-based games.

Vital Statistics
The Motorola RAZR V3m weighs 3.49 ounces and measures 3.90 x 2.10 x .57 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 3.33 hours of digital talk time, and up to 325 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the CDMA 850/CDMA 1900 frequencies. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.

Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars never had phone problems, ever before, but now..........2007-06-05

This phone has been a disaster. As other reviewers have stated it's use is muddled and takes too long to perform operations that should be quick and easy like on most other phones. The battery life is literaly a few hours, four or five tops WITH OUT EVEN BEING IN USE! Simply turned on and left. Returning to the store, the clerk told me the originals were bad so we have to upgrade the software ourselves. He showed me how, and since then, it always reads 'unable to connect to system' or 'system error'; so I"m never able to upgrade. No one is able to connect to me via bluetooth, so thats another useless extra. I'm very disappoiinted. You'd think they were ironing out the wrinkles as they keep pumping these phones out year after year.
I'm returning mine today for something completely different.

1 out of 5 stars Slow Phone!.......2007-05-22

This phone is horribly programmed. Common operations like opening your contact list, or recent calls list takes far too long. I am constantly watching as the phone lags, trying to perform some common operation. Do not buy this phone!

2 out of 5 stars Worse phone ever.......2007-04-04

This has the be the worst phone ever! I bought it to help a good cause but the phone itself sucks! I got it in December and not even 2 weeks after I got it the buttons were stuck. So everytime I opened the phone it would pull up my call history and start calling automatically. So I returned the phone for a replacement... Mind you that its barely April and the MP3 player doesn't work anymore. It freezes and then just turns off. The picture quality on this phone isnt what I expected it either. Then the texting fuction isnt very user friendly. As I was writing this review I was sending a text and the phone just turned off. Also, the battery life isnt very good either. The phone is constantly freezing.
Looks wise... the phone is great! Its a beautiful phone. But other than that it doesnt have anything else going for it.

4 out of 5 stars Overall Good phone.......2007-02-27

Overall I am happy with the Red Razr that I gifted to my wife on Valentine's day. On the outside, it is the same as the black/grey Razr offered by Sprint and comes with the same features/shortcomings.

Positives:
- Gorgeous looking. The online pictures dont do justice to how the phone actually looks
- Decent 1.3 Megapixel camera
- Excellent call quality
- Good reception. The phone has been able to retain a good signal in areas where my previous Sprint cell phone would loose connection.
- Good and easy to use interface.

Negatives:
- Very very slow menus. Phone reacts a second or two after you hit the key.
- The microSD card is almost impossible to remove after you put it in. Required a pair of tweezers to pull mine out. I searched online - and looks like it is a common problem for the V3m(where as the V3c's dont have this issue).
- This being a brand new phone from Sprint - the latest version of Motorola Phone Tools(MPT) failed to recognize it. MPT continued to refuse to recognize it even after it downloaded the "latest" list of phones from the bvrp website. However installing Sprint PCS Business Connection software(allows u to use the phone as a modem) - installed the required drivers on my machine. I was then able to manually add(note: automatic detection still failed, despite driver being installed) the phone to MPT.
