I like the drive, it is very fast and thorough. My only complaint is that it does not reconnect automatically when you turn your computer on. Also, it did not come with any backup software

Brought it home, pluged it in, was storing files less than a minute later. Fast drive. Looks cool sitting there with the gold activity strip pulsing on and off when it's active. Plus the 5 year warrenty. Fast cheap painless USB storage. All you need to know is where the power plug and your USB port is.

the only little change was erase the software for windows (permission issues) and thats all, ready to go.

As easy as a pen drive........2007-05-12

It's fast, it's very easy to get it running, just like a Pen Drive - just plug it in and start copying files.
Besides, Seagate has a strong reliability - that was the main reason I chose this drive.
The only reasons I didn't rate it 5 stars is that it lacks a third-party backup software - something like "Bounceback" would definitely help - and it has a big footprint. You can't just put it in your pocket like some similar external hard drives.

Speedy, attractive, great value.......2007-05-08

The falling prices and increasing speed of external hard drives make for great values like this unit. The upright design is practical and, at least in my opinion, very attractive. Time will tell as to reliability, but the five-year warranty is reassuring. It is true, as another reviewer noted, that it has no power switch. However, the drive powers down automatically (or at least goes into some kind of standby mode) when the computer is turned off or put in standby mode. I prefer that approach myself to a power switch.
