Book Description
In 1991, when her daughter’s rare, hand-carved harp was stolen, Lisby Mayer’s familiar world of science and rational thinking turned upside down. After the police failed to turn up any leads, a friend suggested she call a dowser–a man who specialized in finding lost objects. With nothing to lose–and almost as a joke–Dr. Mayer agreed. Within two days, and without leaving his Arkansas home, the dowser located the exact California street coordinates where the harp was found.
Deeply shaken, yet driven to understand what had happened, Mayer began the fourteen-year journey of discovery that she recounts in this mind-opening, brilliantly readable book. Her first surprise: the dozens of colleagues who’d been keeping similar experiences secret for years, fearful of being labeled credulous or crazy.
Extraordinary Knowing is an attempt to break through the silence imposed by fear and to explore what science has to say about these and countless other “inexplicable” phenomena. From Sigmund Freud’s writings on telepathy to secret CIA experiments on remote viewing, from leading-edge neuroscience to the strange world of quantum physics, Dr. Mayer reveals a wealth of credible and fascinating research into the realm where the mind seems to trump the laws of nature.
She does not ask us to believe. Rather she brings us a book of profound intrigue and optimism, with far-reaching implications not just for scientific inquiry but also for the ways we go about living in the world.
Customer Reviews:
I knew you would read this book ; ).......2007-06-07
Mayer takes on a taboo subject - often ridiculed by the religious AND the scientific communities but for different reasons. The scientists -because it is difficult to explain how esp works. The religious -because if humans were to develop their esp abilities -then we would all be prophets.
This book is filled with interesting anecdotes, experiments, ideas, and people who figure prominently in the field of esp practice and esp research. If you are interested in the topics of psychic healing, subliminal messages, meditation, premonition, intuition, dreams, remote viewing, dowsing, and why Sigmund Freud was not fond of music (and more!)- this is the book for you. Read with an open mind. There is a notes section and an index.
Moves discussion into the new millenium.......2007-05-14
This book is courageous in its sharing of the author's personal journey toward a greater understanding of our complete and yet mysterious humanity, backed up by scrupulous clinical and research data. She takes the idea that we are more than we can ever really know about ourselves consciously out of the age of gullible new age mysticism, and puts it in the middle of thinking people's daily contemplation, challenging everyone from the church to psychologists, to even physicists to take on her incredible yet undeniable assertions about the unlmited frontier of human consciousness which she leads us to. The author died right after completing this book, yet this book has an important and exciting message for humanity that needs to be carried forward without her. It is the perfect antidote to all the fervent God-haters of late, injecting awe, humility and intelligence into the discussion of where we have been, and where we are going--to a place where God and science meet.
where the beef?.......2007-05-13
The author makes good use of describing multiple studies that support some amazing mental powers that the human mind appears to be capable of performing. Unfortunately, none of the studies are sufficiently referenced to allow an interested reader to review the actual data. A more detailed account of the experimental set up, control group, number of participants, etc. along with the actual data would have allowed a skeptical reader to assess the validity independently, rather than accepting the "highly statistically significant" conclusion the author presents. Extraordinary claims do require extraordinary evidence. While I believe the evidence may be there, the author does not make the "ordinary" effort to share this important information with her readers. Even an appendix with more detail would have been useful. I was left wanting for more than just an appetizer, how about some real beef!
Excellent .......2007-05-09
Lisby Mayer lived long enough to complete the manuscript for this excellent story of how an extraordinary event changed her life. Must reading.
Pleasant discussion.......2007-05-07
No new information here, but a pleasant discussion about unexamined ways of acquiring information.

Spirit Lifting.......2007-06-12
I have never watched the show Medium and ran across the book as a recommendation. I am an open-minded individual so gave it the chance. I was not disappointed. It gives people hope, especially those who have lost. I am glad I spent my money and dedicated my time to read it. Well worth it!
fabulous.......2007-06-08
This book was fabulous if you have a fascination about why spirits contact mediums. It was also interesting to read how Allison relates the tv-show "Medium" to her daily life.
Simple reading.......2007-05-16
Her style of writing is very simple, almost boring, but the book got 4 stars because the topic was interesting. It would have gotten 5, except for the fact that it sounded like she had written a previous book (she only mentions it about 9 times)and maybe she was all talked out. Anyway, she has an interesting life and it's a good read.
easy, interesting read!.......2007-05-15
I highly recommend it! It was very entertaining and interesting! Great job to Mrs. DuBois!
Jerry's.......2007-05-14
The real Allison DuBois is more believable than the tv program. I am already an enthusiast of John Edwards, Sylvia Brown, James VanPaugh, and locals Thomas Winlow, Victor Paruta and others. Though not a severely technical as Adam's book, Dream Healer, it rates up there with the rest.

For almost 20 years Jerry and Esther Hicks have been presenting workshops, producing tapes and writing books to help people create the life they desire. And desire is no small word in this agenda. According to the teachings of "Abraham"--a collective name for the spiritual entities that are channeled through Esther--desire is a good and natural force within us. In fact, we are all here to fulfill our desires, according to Abraham. Yet the reason so much of us feel frustrated, is that we have difficulty knowing how to ask and receive whatever we want to be, do or have.
Although Jerry and Esther are listed as the authors, Ask and It Is Given is actually a collection of channeled messages from Abraham. Fans of Abraham and the Hicks may not find new information, but will probably be delighted to have an inspiring, updated book that speaks to the familiar conversation of attracting the life we want. Newcomers may also be intrigued by this excellent, in-depth discussion on how to change one's life by matching the vibrational energy of one's desires--taking the power of positive thinking to a whole new level.
Because this material is channeled, it often reads like The Power of Now or A Course in Miracles--not a fast food book to be devoured in one sitting. Rather, this is a book to be read in passages, with a soothing gestation period in between. It includes much advice on working with energy and emotions as well as specific chapters on increasing prosperity, reclaiming health, working with meditation, and clearing clutter for clarity. For those who are onboard with the "Laws of Attraction" and the "Art of Receiving" that Abraham speaks of, this could be one of those deliciously mysterious books that you can open to any page and it seems to offer the exact advice or insight you need right now.--Gail Hudson

Climbing More Steps on the Path to Enlightenment.......2007-07-01
Numerous authors and teachers have been writing and discussing the law of attraction long before "The Secret" became a mass-production champion. First, one must understand the meaning of consciousness and should also have some experience of what it feels like to be living in the awareness of higher power or deeper meaning of things before the law of attraction will work. Also, obtaining abundance in your life with anything will not be an overnight result. The law of attraction is not about simply wishing for what you desire because the universe is only concerned with your thoughts and not the manifestation of your desires. If you can believe and understand that the universe is controlled by the power of vibration and that the level of positive or negative thinking will determine your own outcomes, then you're probably ready to try this book. The mind can be a wonderful servant when we learn to tap into our own energy source. Jerry and Esther Hicks are wonderful teachers when sharing the principles of the law of attraction. The second part of the book is when they begin teachings on how to apply the principles to our individual lives, and the emotional guidance system that they share in Chapter 22 may prove to be a breakthrough in identifying and understanding the self for many readers.
Things that make you go hmmmm........2007-06-30
I looked at this book because I heard a lot about it and wanted to see for myself what all the fuss was all about. My first clue that this book was a horse of a different color was when I found it in the "metaphysical" section of the bookstore.
I have to be honest though, I never made it through the whole book. It centers around this "spirit" called Abraham and all the advice and teaching it gave to the authors.
Definitely for "New Age" readers, if this kind of thing interests you, then for the type of book that it is, it is a good one. The book has 22 sections, whose purpose is to help you achieve your goals in life by asking you some reflective types of questions- which I did find motivating. Although not my cup of tea, the book is quite popular and I can recommend it to anyone looking for something different and inspiring. For readers who like more conventional books in the self-help genre, I recommend The Sixty-Second Motivator.
Absolutely incredible creative workshop.......2007-06-28
I love this book so much because I feel like it's a master class on life. I've always been a believer of Creative Visualization and was first introduced to the subject by Shakti Gawain's book of the same title. A few months ago, people from out of the blue would mention "Ask and It Is Given," and it sounded like something worth exploring, but I didn't pick it up until I was in the bookstore and the book basically put itself into my hands. Even on a glance through, I wasn't sure it was for me, and so I put it back, only to find myself unconsciously grabbing for it again. So I bought it and had to laugh at Wayne Dyer's intro about how this book chooses people and how just carrying it around with you is a great way to become accustomed to the good vibrations of the material within. Well, let me tell you, this book has been life-changing! Not only is it like a lifeboat, it's like a playground, a treasure chest, a tool box, a road map and wonderful guidance system. You can pick up this book at any time, read any page, and be absolutely inspired! Being aware of one's thoughts, being aware of our ability to change our thoughts and change our circumstances is one of the greatest gifts ever! And then there are The Processes, which are all incredibly cool exercises on playing with expanding our consciousness and thusly expanding our lives. I cannot recommed this book enough. Open up and enjoy the ride!
Pure enlightment to life.......2007-06-19
As an avid reader and believer of continues self-development and growth, I can only say that what has been written in this book and part II of it, is mastery on personal improvement and fulfillment of collective happiness. This is genius mastermind at first hand and a needed teaching for a new era. I can only say that if you are looking to make an everlasting change, take a glimpse to unlimited knowledge and wellbeing; and having life work easily for you at your fingertips -make no mistake, this is the way. Thank you Abraham!
Lovin' It! .......2007-06-15
I bought this book after listening to their audio book on The Law of Attraction. I have put this into practice and I am here to tell you this works. I find myself giggling everyday about the sheer number of things that have "gone my way" in such a short period of time. Just one example: I had asked for a raise and a revision of my job title in January 07 only to be told that was not in the plans for 2007. I didn't give up and used the exercises I had learned to Ask, Believe, and Receive. Guess What? In May of 2007 I was given a raise and a new job title. The boss thought it was her idea. I `m lovin' it!

Book Description
IS EVERYTHING CONNECTED?
Can we sense what's happening to loved ones thousands of miles away? Why are we sometimes certain of a caller's identity the instant the phone rings? Do intuitive hunches contain information about future events? Is it possible to perceive without the use of the ordinary senses?
Many people believe that such "psychic phenomena" are rare talents or divine gifts. Others don't believe they exist at all. But the latest scientific research shows that these phenomena are both real and widespread, and are an unavoidable consequence of the interconnected, entangled physical reality we live in.
Albert Einstein called entanglement "spooky action at a distance" -- the way two objects remain connected through time and space, without communicating in any conventional way, long after their initial interaction has taken place. Could a similar entanglement of minds explain our apparent psychic abilities? Dean Radin, senior scientist at the Institute of Noetic Sciences, believes it might.
In this illuminating book, Radin shows how we know that psychic phenomena such as telepathy, clairvoyance, and psychokinesis are real, based on scientific evidence from thousands of controlled lab tests. Radin surveys the origins of this research and explores, among many topics, the collective premonitions of 9/11. He reveals the physical reality behind our uncanny telepathic experiences and intuitive hunches, and he debunks the skeptical myths surrounding them. Entangled Minds sets the stage for a rational, scientific understanding of psychic experience.

Courage.......2007-05-20
"Those who are frightened of the darkness often refuse to look, and they don't want anyone else to look either."
Look a little bit closer and you will find that there is absolutely nothing to be afraid of. You will need courage but since that is an emotion it is freely available to all.
Jerry's.......2007-05-14
If you would like to know if there is any science behind those natural born psychics who seem to do things that most of us can't do, then this is a must read. For a scientist to dedicate much of his life to paranatural phenomena, should be recognized as credible. With a background in physics and technology, I highly recommend this book for all but the hard core skeptics who would never change their mind even if they experience such things themselves.
Another sign of the lack of coming to terms with the modern world.......2007-04-15
There is nothing remotely resembling "strong" evidence, theoretical or empirical, for quantum effects at this scale. This book is further evidence of the lack of mathematical and scientific education in America today. I suggest rather than wasting time with implausible leaps of pseudoscientific fantasy spun in this book, readers spend more time learning some mathematics and statistics, and get real.
Comprehensive look into Psi.......2007-04-03
After reading this book I have a much better understanding of the research done in the area of parapsychology and how quantum physics are being used to better understand this phenomenon.
If I'm not entangled, then I'm darned loopy.......2007-03-29
Once you've gotten into it, there are points at which you might start to think that this is a "proof-oriented" book. Also, you might want to look ahead thinking that one of the later chapters looks mighty interesting, but don't. Go start to finish because it's really in a good format and has good flow for the main content. This is definitely a book to get you to think about the information presented and, if you're like me, you'll be writing oodles of notes in the margins! Although the presented results of experiments are certainly impressive, I personally thought that a couple of conclusions were a little understated. So, now, we know that we can show in a laboratory setting that humanity has a "psychic twinkle". That's interesting, but it's a little like discovering that we can scientifically prove that positive thinking and prayer actually work. Then again, we don't really expect full effects in the lab where real people are concerned; that's like studying wildlife in a zoo versus out on the Serengeti. Also, as Radin rightfully states, "psi might appear weak and erratic, but that's at least partially because the tools being used to study it are inappropriate" (p.100). Once we know a little more about how psi works, we might be able to better measure it--and Radin does suggest a possible psi amplifier later in the book as well as an "ideal" testing situation. Actually, some of the experiments, especially about presentiment and the delayed choice experiment, are very cool. And Radin has a great way of using what's already been shown--the proof-oriented business--to lead into how quantum physics accounts for these observations and theories about psi. (BTW, the explanation/history of quantum theory is, IMHO, extremely well-done. He moves gracefully from classical physics to quantum physics. But careful reading is required during the evolution of the science and the section on quantum theories of psi, just to make sure that you get it straight.) He makes a good case for entanglement and shows how entanglement describes the different types of psi tested/observed to date. Entanglement also goes a long way toward explaining "side topics" in psi, such as the "filtering" of too much psi information and the role of attention in receiving information both locally and nonlocally.
Radin does address briefly skepticism. Personally, I think that there isn't any doubt: Psi happens. Truthfully, one must be careful when addressing rabid skeptics. Although it's tempting to pummel naysayers (with the facts) because they can be irritating and irrational, I do believe that we need to be sensitive to people who might be afraid of the overwhelming evidence. Fortunately, Radin doesn't go too far, but it could become very hurtful to others if it became a trend in parapsychology. Remember how eagerly Ebenezer Scrooge dismissed the image of Marley before his very eyes, "A little thing affects them. A slight disorder of the stomach makes them cheats." Forcing the ghosts of the past, present and future on diehard skeptics could be considered cruel.
There are some points that I wish had been brought out. For example, if memory serves, knots are naturally occurring. (I think DeWitt and Klaus proved this back at FSU in the late 80's: If you take a random walk of n steps, then the probability that you will get "knotted" goes to 1 as n goes to infinity.) So, doesn't it stand to reason that the universe is terribly knotted, tangled and maybe even a little kinky? Wouldn't that make entanglement and, hence, nonlocality really-really-really obvious? Well, I might not be the center of the universe, but I'm quantumly connected to it and I can observe it. But, back to the knots, the most common biological occurrence of knots is in the tertiary structure of genetic material, but previous psi research seems to revolve around quantum elements in the firing of excitable cells (p. 250), I suppose because that is more in line with mind-matter discussions but still.... Then, I wonder about the effects of heat on entanglement; don't most light sources have heat, incandescence? And light's the stuff that we know right off the bat has dual properties of waves and particles, and then there's the experiment involving heated metals (temperature/light intensity) leading to the "ultraviolet catastrophe" and spawning Max Planck's idea of energy packets, or quanta. So, how does heat/temperature affect entanglement? Intuitively, I would guess that heat decreases entanglement or makes things dissipate somehow. Maybe I'm just missing something there. (I also wish that I knew more about the multidimensional theories of psi, but I suppose I shouldn't expect to be spoon-fed every little thing.) There are a few other minor things that I might have liked to see developed, but that's just me.
There are lots of wonderful insights--and great quotes--throughout the book. Just as one last note, while near-pummelling a skeptic, Radin says that psi research is "engaged in investigating puzzling human experiences--often profoundly meaningful, and sometimes transformational, experiences--as reported by countless people throughout history." Couldn't agree more.
I highly recommend Entangled Minds...but I did have a nightmare about being chased by a bowl of nonlocal Jell-o last night.

Wiley CPA Exam Review 2007 Auditing and Attestation.......2007-02-08

The question is a little bit hard but the solution in the back of the book.
Disadvantages of Self-Study.......2000-06-13
Wiley's books are useful, but not suitable for a complete review. I found them to contain more information than was necessary. They did, however, contain a multitude of old CPA Examination questions. This was useful, but I feel that these books need to be used in conjunction with a reputable CPA Review Course. Test taking skills are not discussed in depth, as well as the confidence instilled by a review course.

Good book!.......2007-06-13
Princess Academy by Shannon Hale is an awesome book! I am a girl, but not a girly girl, so I just picked it up because it looked like a big book. Oh, and how much I enjoyed it! I am not going to tell you much about the actual book, just in case you may want to read it one day, (: , but I think you definitely should read it!
Her best work to date.......2007-06-09
This is a wonderful coming-of-age tale. Others have given the synopsis, so I won't do it here. The book's premise may not necessarily be new (a bunch of mountain girls being trained to be the next princess), but the story itself is unique and offers nice twists and turns. The characters are believeable and likeable (except the ones you're not supposed to like, of course.) I have also read Shannon Hale's Books of Bayern trilogy, and while they were a nice read and I would recommend them, I didn't find them as good as "Princess Academy." Ignoring this book based on its title is shallow--don't judge a book by its cover, as they say. If you enjoy fantasy and spirited heroines overcoming external difficulties and internal fears, give this book a try.
Enjoyable tale.......2007-05-20
I really enjoyed this tale of a young mountain girl who's village is chosen to have the next queen to be. Ms. Hale does a great great developing the character of Miri from this young insecure girl to the one the others in her village look up to.
I love this book!.......2007-05-15
What a great story and the book came is such wonderful condition at an even better price!
To Be Chewed and Digested.......2007-04-24
I'm in loooooooove. That's all I can figure. Why else would I have stayed up until 2am to finish this book, tossed and turned, unable to sleep, feverish thoughts of "if only I had enough money to buy the school 10 copies and give one to everyone I know!" in my over-tired head? Why else would I have dreamed (when I was finally able to sleep) of the different characters in this book, longing to be the main character, Miri? I am dopey-eyed, slack-jawed, gimme more gimme more gimme more in loooooooove with this book!
Princess Academy can most easily be described as a take on the "princess tale," wherein it is possible for a common young woman to marry the prince. But it's so much more than that. Young Miri is the diminutive heroine of the story, living a small, quiet life with her family and villagers atop Mount Eskel. The village mines the mountain quarries for blocks of linder, a valuable commodity for building in their country of Danland. A representative from the royal court - located in the "lowlands" - comes to tell the village that it has been determined the prince's bride shall come from their tiny village. Since none of the young women can read or write or engage in things like Conversation, Poise, and Diplomacy, the court creates a Princess Academy, where the girls can study for one year and potentially catch the eye (and hand) of the Prince at the year-end ball.
The year at the Academy changes everyone, especially Miri (named after the miri flower that grows in the linder-filled mountains). She comes to the academy with fear and hope lodged in her heart. She has always felt useless in her village - too small to work the quarry, too small to be of any consequence. Could the Academy offer her a chance to be important? What if she were chosen as the princess? Ultimately Miri discovers in herself hidden talents and abilities, and with a generous spirit goes about helping others to do the same. Throughout the year at the school, all the girls grow strong, intelligent, independent. They examine their relationships with each other, with their families, with the mountain itself.
Author Hale leans on Scandinavian roots to create her community in the book. The look, the feel of the village is Scandinavian, even down to the use of names like Doter and Peder and Britta. There are some incredibly poignant scenes, one which made me tear up. There is humor and action and suspense. There is a sweet love story, with touches of passion and fluttering hearts. The mountain is a character as real as any human in this story. This isn't really just a "princess tale." It's a tale of friendship and love, loyalty, courage, individual gifts, the value of education. I'd hate for anyone to look at the title and dismiss it as a fairy tale. I was thinking if I had chosen the title, it might be "Miri Blooms." This book has certainly planted something very warm and whole in my own heart. Yes, I think I'm in love!

Book Description
Just imagine this: a friend gives you a ring to look at. She tells you that it has been in her family for generations. Suddenly, your mind is filled with images. Births and marriages, lovers and deathbeds, infants and the aged. You describe the images and your friend looks at you in shock. Everything you said was part of her family history. How could you have known?
This wasn't luck. It was an actual skill called psychometry. And as with all skills, you can do exercises to improve it. Now you can learn how to enhance this ability and many others in William W. Hewitt's Psychic Development for Beginners.
Using more than 25 examples and 44 easy but potent mental exercises, you'll learn to develop all of your psychic abilities. Psychometry is just one of them. Other skills you'll learn include psychic healing, telepathy (mental communication with others), clairvoyance, communication with the spirit world, prophecy, astral travel and creative visualization.
Psychic abilities can be very practical, too. The book explains how to use your psychic abilities to develop a psychic alarm clock that can wake you up at any time you desire, keep you from falling asleep at the wrong time, or even help you find a parking place.

Half could be cut.......2007-04-10
Much of this book could be cut out. Too much commentary, too little information. Somewhat boring. You'll be skipping over large sections. The "case histories" are hardly relevant. In fact, they're a bit cliche. Much of this book is just repetitive, opinionated filler "If you ever...". Well,go ahead and make your lists now - your "deja vu" experiences, correct intuition experiences, little voices telling you otherwise. Then do the pendulum and playing card challenges. And the dictionary -this one sounds vague. Definitely for beginners. But if you have even a bit of common sense, interest or insight into the topic, you already know the information in this book.
Not bad for an absolute beginner.......2007-04-05
This is a book for an absolute beginner, it explains all the basics. So if you have any idea at all about the topic, do not get the book since it will be too repetitive for you.
It's not a bad book for someone who is a complete novice and wants to learn everything from scratch.
REALLY Good Guide To Expanding Your Psychic Development.......2007-03-25
I really enjoyed his down to earth writing style. It did feel like I was at a small worshop and he was sharing his knowledge. One of my favorite parts was that the author gives complete credit to others whose work has impacted his journey. For instance, he references Pete A. Sanders work repeatedly and I liked that. We all learn from every book, CD or seminar and it is only fair to give credit where credit is due!
His techniques are sound, easy to follow and the author takes a lot fo the "spoooookiness" out of the subject. Buy it, follow the exercises and I guarantee you will be very pleased!
Encouring and exciting.......2007-03-11
This is one best 'metaphysical' books I have ever read. Forget all that new age mumbo jombo, this is the stuff you should read if you seriously want to test your psychic abilities. The exercises in the book are fun and easy to do. Theres no complex techniques described here. Simple put, meditation and altering your state of concioussness is the key to being psychic. But how simple is altering your state of concioussness? How simple is going to the Beach of Time? The only reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars is because I wish he would have gone into more depth on this subject. For a beginner, such as myself, I find that altering your state of conciousness is a hard and daunting exercise on its own and to get the best out of the exercises described in this book, you really have to go DEEP into meditation. Not many people find that easy to do on their first try. Thats why I would suggest that whoevers interested in buying this book, to first look up and learn everything you can on altering your state of conciousness and meditation. Remember, the author himself had a background on hypnotherapy and the likes.
Excellent book!.......2006-08-31
The advice, case studies and 44 practical exercises are worth the money for this book. Mr. Hewitt gives sage advice in this book.

"""Death is a funny thing. It brings out the best and worst in people. It casts light on the truth and makes life blindingly clear."" Her visions have helped solve crimes; her instincts have helped find missing people; she can predict future events and sense your thoughts. These are some of the extraordinary gifts that define the remarkable Allison DuBois, the real-life medium, wife, and mother whose life is the inspiration for the hit NBC television series Medium. When she was six years old, Allison's deceased great-grandfather came to her with a message for her mother: ""I am okay, I am still with you. Tell your mom there's no more pain."" Allison shared his comforting words with her mother and thus began a lifetime of creating connections between loved ones and those they have lost. The purpose of her gifts became clearer when Allison worked as an intern in the homicide bureau of the district attorney's office and found that she visualized the crime as she handled the evidence. Allison now works as a profiler on criminal investigations. In this stunning book, Allison shares fascinating stories of her encounters with people who have passed and her adventures as a profiler for various law enforcement organizations. Chapters 7 & 8 are worth the price x 10!.......2007-06-14
I had a difficult time getting into this book, but kept reading. Then chapter 7, 'Empathy' connected. Chapter 8 had me in tears, with an increased level of understanding.
Thank you, Ms. Debois. Understanding/closure is a welcome gift.
Preying on emotions..........2007-06-08
The only insight this woman has is that she can see that there are people out there desperate enough to believe that someone can actually communicate with dead people. If you have lost a loved one, I feel for you. I've been there myself. But if you want to invest money to keep the memory of your loved one alive, then start a foundation in the name of your loved one to fight the disease that they died from, or start a scholarship fund in the name of your loved one at their alma mater. Don't spend your money on this crazy hoodoo stuff.
Dont' Kiss them Goodbye.......2007-05-13
Allison DuBois is someone whom I can understand in her abilities.

Beautifully simple guidelines for anyone desiring to open themselves spiritually.......2007-02-20
This book is so beautifully clear and gives such simple, realistic guidelines and exercises to begin opening your psychic and mediumistic talents. I would suggest it to anyone who is interested in their own development. It is so down to earth and easy to use... no mumbo jumbo, no nonsense, just real stuff that works, that opens your awareness. I recommend all of his books, even though I have not read the latest one...I know I will not be disappointed. These books are invaluable for Spiritual awakening and they are easy on the wallet, too.
PERFECT MEDITATIONS FOR RELAXING-BOOK IS WONDERFUL AS WELL!.......2006-12-11
The book has step by step information and how to be more psychic. I agree with the other reviewers, the CD alone is worth the money I spent. John Holland has a very soothing voice and his book reflects a totally understanding soul. No matter what level you are in learning to be more Psychic, this book has something for everyone. Sure hope that John Holland comes out with more CD'S. What a great gift he is sharing with the world.
Thanks John!
The CD is Golden - Enjoyable book!.......2006-09-08
While at first glance the book might seem to be better suited to only beginners rather than advanced students, it is a worthwhile read for any level. I learned things from it and showed me areas where I know I need to explore in greater depth. (breathing for example).
I love Holland's style. I am orginally near from where he is so I find his accent familiar and for some reason it just makes me smile. He writes in a candid and straightforward style. I've never met him, but I keep getting the feeling from the book that he's just a truly nice guy, never mind being one of the country's leading mediums.
Now the BIG thing is, no matter what level you think you are at in your psychic abilities, the CD is WORTH THE PRICE OF THE BOOK ALONE!
I will be recommending this book to those who ask me "What's a good book to develop my psychic abilities?" To my friends already in the field - I'm going to be recommending they get it for the CD!

A Major Disappointment.......2007-06-27
Being an avid reader and adoring fan of most fantasy books, I was highly disappointed when I finished Nightrise. The first novel in the series- Raven's Gate, was suspenseful and hard to put down (I have to say I loved the creepy black cat and portrait whose eyes seemed to move). The second one, Evil Star, had an incredibly thrilling beginning and then seemed to become dull a little before halfway into it, like soda without some of the fizz. Nevertheless, it was still a good book, even if it didn't completely live up to the expectations of the first. Matt is a very likeable character, and Pedro isn't that bad either. The Nazca Lines were a nice touch and there were many exciting action scenes.
However, Nightrise just killed it. Frankly, it seemed like an afterthought of a book- the beginning was enticing, but something seemed a little... off. I don't know if it was the rough transition of having Matt being the main character in the first two and then practically disappearing off the face of the earth until the end of Nightrise (figure of speech), but Scott and Jamie just didn't do it for me. As much as I hate to admit it, I had trouble getting through the end and practically forced myself to finish it. That bizarre dream world was awful and a bit confusing, as it was so abrupt. Overall, I don't recommend Nightrise, but if you like the series and feel like you *must* read it, you have been warned. Looking at the other three reviews, maybe I'm totally off, but you be the judge of the book, I'm just giving my own opinion. I just hope the others in the series are better....
Courtesy of Teens Read Too.......2007-06-07
Anthony Horowitz's THE GATEKEEPERS series continues with NIGHTRISE. The Old Ones are still a threat to the safety of the world, and the five young gatekeepers are the only ones equipped to help.
Previously, Matt and Pedro were in Peru attempting to close the second gate. Their attempt failed and Matt was seriously injured. The adventure continues in a new location - Reno, Nevada. A small, rundown theater is hosting a performance called The Circus of the Mind. The featured act involves twins named Jamie and Scott. They amaze the audience by reading each others' minds. No one seems to know the secret of the trick. Actually, the secret is, there is no secret. They really do read minds and not just each others'.
Readers will soon guess that Jamie and Scott are the next two of the special "five." The problem is how will they learn about their responsibilities and how will they find out about the others. When the evil corporation, Nightrise, becomes involved, it is clear that the Old Ones' power still reaches around the world.
When Scott is kidnapped by Nightrise and taken to an isolated juvenile detention facility in the desert, Jamie begins his rescue attempt with the help of Alicia McGuire. She wants inside the prison as much as Jamie because she suspects her son has been kidnapped, as well. Nightrise seems to be making it a habit to kidnap teens with various "special" abilities. Could they be looking for the five young gatekeepers?
Horowitz thrills readers with kidnapping, adventures in the present day world, a world 10,000 years in the past, and the dream world Matt became familiar with in the first books. There are shape-changers, fire-riders, and mutilated humans to be battled. Some might find the story filled with twists and turns a bit confusing, but fans of the earlier books will be pleased with the surprises Horowitz has hidden in this new episode. The "to be continued..." ending promises even more surprises to come.

AWESOME!!!.......2007-05-17
THIS SERIES JUST GETS BETTER AND BETTER WITH A STORY THAT GRIPS YOU AND NEVER LETS GO. I CAN'T WAIT TILL THE NEXT ONE! KEEP IT UP ANTHONY!!
Adventure, chills and thrills for the young at heart.......2007-05-01
I may be a man, and not just a man, but a very, very old man. How old? Let's just say that I remember both the Great Depression AND the Last Great Hurrah, and by Last Great Hurrah I mean the 1925 Great Race of Mercy by sled dog teams carrying diphtheria antitoxin against an incipient diphtheria epidemic in Nome, Alaska. But even I like to recall the days of my youth, weak from hunger and backbreaking work, with the rare moment of leisure spent collecting metal for spare change, and lose myself in the latest Anthony Horowitz novel.
Now I don't know why some people consider his work juvenile fiction, since there is nothing juvenile about the characters or their situations. The protagonists may be young men and women, but they face situations that would curl the grey hairs of a WWII veteran! Assuming, of course, that he still had hair. And I'm not talking in the ears.
In "Nightrise", the third book of "The Gatekeepers" series, we leave Matt Freeman, the hero of the first two books, to focus on the fourteen-year-old twins Scott and Jamie Tyler. Boy, I remember being fourteen... wait, no, no I don't. That was sixteen presidents ago. I'm lucky to remember my pants. Who needs 'em anyway? One of the few benefits of being as old as I am is that I can go without pants and people don't give it a second thought. So refreshing. Not wearing any now. Ahhhh... Anyhow, these orphan twins, unaware of their own past and sharing extraordinary abilities, become targets of the mysterious and evil Nightrise Corporation, which kidnaps Scott and frames Jamie for murder. I was kidnapped once. No, I was a kid and I napped. Those were the good old days. Wait, I just had a nap. The twins can rely only on themselves, and Jamie eventually discovers that he and his twin are two of the five Gatekeepers, the only force standing between the Old Ones and their takeover of our world.
These stories may superficially resemble the Harry Potter series, but present a far darker, less fantastical world in which the teenage protagonists must rely on their own wits, skills and confidence to survive a deadly foe that has insinuated itself into modern society, much like the Freemasons. Readers need not be teenagers or Freemasons themselves, however, to fully enjoy the adventure, terror and chills that will keep you, dare I say it, nightrise.
