About the Artist
Yonni Fischer is a formally trained flutist and pianist who has lived in Alaska most of her 44 years. Her piano training began 39 years ago, and flute, 34 years ago. She spent ten years with the Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra, wrote successfully for flute choir and piano/flute works for international composition contests.received numerous scholarships for study with the late Jean Pierre Rampal, James Galway, Loius Moyse and William Bennett. She is currently a private flute and piano instructor with her emphasis on Music Therapy for children with physical and emotional disabilities.

Ms. Fischer toured Alaska with Windham Hill's Scott Cossu and Van Manakas, performing Dave Valentine's flute parts, as well improvising on her own, from 1985 to 1992. She has assembles several jazz ensembles for flutes, accoustic and electric guitar, accoustic bass, percussion. vibes and piano, including currently The New Silversong Jazz Quartet in Fairbanks.
