About the Artist
Natalie Zoe has been an active force on the infamous Austin music scene since the late Seventies when things were just beginning to heat up in what would prove to be a veritable hotbed of creativity.
Surrounded by the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Johnson, Doug Sahm, the "T-Birds",Willie Nelson, and so much other great talent, Natalie came of age stimulated by opportunities to sing with, open shows for, and learn from some of the best musicians Texas had to offer.
Over the years, Miss Zoe has performed solo with her acoustic guitar, opening shows for a wide variety of artists ranging from the incomparable Muddy Waters, to Bonnie Raitt, To J.D. Souther, to Warren Zevon. she has also enjoyed doing stints as a back-up vocalist both on the road and in the studio for such Texas artists as Alex ( Delta Dawn ) Harvey, The Lost Gonzo Band, and, most recently, the one and only Don Henley (1994).
Miss Zoe has come a long way since winning her first award, voted in 1977 as "Best Solo Performer" in Austin. Her "Wild tonight" won "Best Tape Release" in 1993at the Austin Chronicle Awards. That year she enjoyed being the first local artist to not only win an award, but to also place in three additional categories: "Best Female Vocalist", "Best Producer" ( the first time a woman had ever been voted into that category) , and "Best Song".
Her "Fountain of Tears" single , done with the renowned Malford Milligan ( Storyville) was honored at the 1997 Austin Chronicle Awards. and 1999 she was the only female to be voted into the "Jazz" category.
This new C.D., "Never Too Old Too Swing" returns to Natalie's roots, renovating a few favorite jazz songs, and introducing some original jazz tunes....all delivered with the polish and soul gathered from years on the road with so many great players....
