Editorial Reviews
Product Description
Somewhere Over Neverland is the title song of a newly released CD by White Tie Group. The group, made up of Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra members Harold Smoliar, piano, Don Evans, bass and Andy Reamer, drums, selected the composition, which combines Somewhere Over the Rainbow with Never Neverland, after performing it during a Jules Styne medley arranged by Marvin Hamlisch for a recent Pittsburgh Pops concert.
The CD, which contains eleven songs by White Tie Groups favorite composers, includes: Richard Rodgers My Romance and Our Favorite Things, In a Mellow Tone by the legendary Duke Ellington and A. Johnstons Pennies From Heaven. Also recorded on the CD is a Harold Smoliar original tune Andys Waltz, which was written in honor of the groups drummer Andy Reamer, who is passionate about jazz waltzes. Smoliar, remarking on his composition, said, " Andy loves to play jazz waltzes. I wrote this piece with him in mind and it evolved into an extensive drum solo, which was a great showcase for his talent."
This 60-minute CD was recorded in Heinz Hall, August 1999 by Pittsburgh Symphony Soundman Ray Clover. The CD jacket was designed by Ginnie Smoliar.
