About the Artist
Fabian Isadar Thibodeaux, p/k/a "Isadar," has been playing the piano since the age of five. Studying on and off throughout grade school, he abandoned the piano for a brief period and began studying the Flute and Piccolo then gradually moved on to include the Oboe (which started a cycle of craving new sounds and timbres). By the time he graduated high school, Isadar had collected numerous musical awards from competing in competitions. Isadar regained his interest in the piano as a high school Junior and from then on began writing and composing (some of these works exclusively for the piano). By the time he was a music student at the University of Louisiana, he had already begun to record his original compositions in a professional multitrack recording studio. Isadar's earliest efforts (which eventually developed into his 1997 vocal release, "Dream of the Dead") were heavily influenced by such British recording artists as Kate Bush, Thomas Dolby, and Peter Gabriel. Around 1988 Isadar saw Windham Hill pianist Liz Story perform in Baton Rouge, LA on the campus of LSU. He was so blown away by her technique and composition that he immediately put his vocal project on hold and moved back to the simplicity of the piano and recorded his debut disc, "Near the Edge of Light" (released in 1990). In 1993, Isadar made a bold move to relocate for seven years from his home in Louisiana to Manhattan in order to pursue his music and recording career professionally. He was employed for five years with Sony Music Entertainment. In 1996, he mixed and mastered "Dream of the Dead" with Bob Musso (chief Engineer and business partner of acclaimed producer, Bill Laswell) at Sony Music Studios. (March 1999)
