About the Artist
Bill Sveglini has touched just about every area of the music world over the past five decades. He has been student and teacher, has performed solo and with many major artists and bands, has directed various musical organizations, and currently cares for musical instruments and their owners at Bill's ABC Music in San Bruno, California.
Bill began playing the guitar at age 4, and was playing in big bands by the age of 12. He studied with Donald Strange, Joe Cinderella, Ralph Buis and jazz great Kenny Burrell, and attended the Argo Conservatory of Music where he became head of the Guitar Department. Bill has been teaching guitar, voice and other instruments for over 40 years.
As a performer, Bill has played everywhere from coffee shops to concert halls to stadiums, and on radio and TV. He has performed with the Shangri La's, the Dixiecups, the Lettermen, Damita Jo, Peggy March, Lou Rawls, Bill Cosby, the Cowsills, Italian recording artists Milva, Luciano Vergilli, Giorgio Ferrerra and Bobby Solo. He was a member of Redbird Records artists the Raindrops, and was featured with pianist Erika Paul on KCSM TV's "All That Jazz."
For the past 25 years, Bill has been Director of Chapel Music at Burlingame, California's United Methodist Church. He is a Past President of the San Mateo County Branch of the Music Teachers Association of California, and a member of the American String Teachers Association, the Guild of American Luthiers, and the Music Teachers National Association.
For the last 8 years, Bill has also owned and served as repairperson-in-chief of Bill's ABC Music.
Bill is joined on this recording by Kathleen Nelson, a noted teacher, composer, performer and recording artist. All tracks were recorded and engineered by Tom Carr, the Man with the Golden Ear, at Music Annex, Menlo Park, California.
