About the Artist
Jim Wilkes is a prominent attorney from Tampa, Florida, founder of one of Tampa's most prestigious law firms, Wilkes & McHugh. But in the beginning, Jim's road to Tampa and the legal profession wound through Nashville, where he spent some time "paying his dues", working clubs, showcasing his talents wherever and whenever he could. Then, as now, it's obvious that Jim has a passion for the music, a fervor that crosses over into every facet of Jim's life. Whether in a legal setting or a recording studio, Jim's love for his craft is an integral part of who he is and how he relates to people. In this album, "Bittersweet", Jim sends up his tribute to timeless classics and legendary artists like Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, and Micheal Feinstein who have made these tunes an undeniable part of the public conciousness. Jim is certainly no stranger to the public eye. His tireless advocacy to protect our nation's elderly from abusive nursing homes has landed him in the spotlight on numerous occasions, including in-depth interviews on NBC's "Today Show", "Dateline", and "48 Hours". Recently he was featured in a two page spread in People Magazine. He is a well-respected and consistent contributor to newspaper opinion and advice columns, both regionally and nationally. When not jetting between one of Wilkes & McHugh's law offices in seven different states, courtrooms, and recording studios, Jim loves to relax with his family at his spacious ranch just outside of Tampa. The rustic setting, fresh air, and wide open spaces provide a much needed retreat from his usually intense schedule. To be sure, Jim Wilkes has a "fire in his belly", both for his legal profession and his music. And as anyone that's around him for more than five minutes can tell you, these are white hot fires that will never be extinguished. Jim Wilkes is a man on a mission. And he pursues his mission with passion...and a song in his heart.
