The Chicago Jazz Ensemble performs throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe.

The 12-track CD, which was recorded live over the space of two concerts this past February at the Jazz Showcase, focuses on the works of Stan Kenton, from the delightfully percussion-heavy "Peanut Vendor" to his early hit "Eager Beaver."'Kenton a la Russo: Live at the Jazz Showcase' also includes many of William Russo's own compositions (Russo was Kenton's chief arranger and composer in the '50s), such as "Portrait of A Count," and "Blues Before And After," as well as a bonus track: the new William Russo work, "Road Runner." Stellar soloists showcased on the CD include trumpeters Orbert Davis and Scott Hall (Hall is also producer of the CD), alto saxophonist Pat Mallinger, tenor saxophonist Jim Gailloreto, trombonists Tom Garling (Maynard Ferguson's former trombonist/music director) and Tracy Kirk, percussionist Alejo Poveda, as well as singers Bobbi Wilsyn and Vikki Stokes.
