About the Artist
Tom Strohman is a native of Central PA and began playing at the age of six (his father was a woodwind instructor). He began on the flute and now doubles fluently on all saxophones, flutes and clarinet (he's also a piano player). Tom studied with Phil Woods and cites Tom Scott, Sonny Rollins and Charlie Parker as his main influences. Tom has co-led the adventurous jazz group Third Stream for over 25 years and presently is woodwind and jazz band instructor at Lebanon Valley Collge.

Steve Rudolph was born in Evansville, Indiana in 1949, and studied trumpet and composition at Butler University. The rich jazz tradition in Indianapolis fed his interest and at age 22, he changed his main instrumental focus from the trumpet to the piano. In 1977 Buddy Morrow hired him to tour with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra where he backed up such notables as Helen O'Connell and the Mills Brothers. Steve moved to Harrisburg, PA in 1978 and has been largely responsible for the growth and development of the thriving jazz scene in Central Pennsylvania. Steve is Past President and a founder of the Central PA Friends of Jazz, one of the most successful nonprofit jazz organizations in the country.

Five European tours, three appearances as soloist with the Harrisburg Symphony, soloist with Miami’s New World Symphony and receiving a Pennsylvania Council on the Arts Jazz Fellowship in 1995 and 2001 highlight his career. Steve was presented as an "Emerging Artist" at the Jazz Times Convention in New York City in 1998. Winner of the 1999 Jazziz Magazine - Seven Springs Jazz Festival Piano Competition, he has appeared in concert with master drummer Louie Bellson, Grammy winner Mark Murphy, Al Grey, John Blake, Buddy Tate, Clark Terry, Paquito D’Rivera, Herb Ellis, Carl Allen, Buddy DeFranco, Terry Gibbs, and countless other jazz greats.

Steve’s most recent recordings include, "Everything I Love" (1995) with Roger Humphries, Dwayne Dolphin & Steve Varner, "Pure Imagination" (1997)w/ Robin Work, Paul Langosch & Bill Goodwin, and "Crabtree & Evelyn - Music for Romance" (1998) the Steve Rudolph Trio exclusively for Crabtree & Evelyn gift shops nationwide. "Christmas with the Steve Rudolph Trio" (1998) featuring Paul Langosch & Matt Wilson was released in November of ’98. Produced and performed on vocalist Cathy Chemi’s debut CD - "You & I" (1999). All of these recordings are released on the label R&L RECORDS. Rudolph recently finished work with co-producer George Benson on the Rudolph/Valentino Project which features guitarist Vinny Valentino, drummer Bob Moses, bassist Larry Gray, and a string section from the Pittsburgh Symphony. He also has recently recorded a project with woodwind artist Tom Strohman; a quartet recording with trumpeter John D’Earth and drummer Matt Wilson; recorded with guitar giant Cal Collins; and performed on the last recording of legendary trumpeter Johnny Coles.
