About the Artist
Donald (Donny) Holcombe is an independent recording producer and composer who lives in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Since early childhood, music has been the central focal point of his life, and his musical education includes study at the Berklee College of Music. He has worked in professional recording studios as a multi-instrument session player, vocalist, songwriter, recording engineer and produces for more than a decade. His latest musical compilation is the instrumental work entitled "Awake From Yesterday". The title demonstrates Donny's diverse talents as a composer, musician and project producer. "Awake From Yesterday" was recorded almost entirely at Donny's digital project recording studio/retreat in Virginia, which is appropriately named "Sacred Ground Recording".

Awake From Yesterday Highlights Donny's talents as a composer, moster guitarist and recording engineer. It is a remarkable peice of work, showcasing his original music which spans and blends categories and styles ranging fromNew Age to Jazz to World to ProgRessive Rock. On initial listening, the impression is given of a pleasant simplicity of compositional structure, but on closer inspection, the phrasings which are derived from rock influences are found to be supported throughout by the complexity of both jazz- and classical-style interplays and orchestration. To this he adds his driving percussions, while at the same time he creates the spaciousness of new age ambiance. These qualities simultaneously permeatesic without conflict. Add to this his impeccable musicianship and flawless engineering, which captures each performance in sparkling clarity, and a distinctive music is the result. It is satisfying and deserving of repeated listening.
