About the Artist
Pablo Rodriguez has lived and performed in the San Francisco bay area for 20 years. His voice has been heard on many local artists CDs throughout the north bay. His classical guitar playing has been used in independent films. A crack session singer, Rodriguez recently sang in a choir of top LA studio singers for an album of vocal arrangements of pop and classical pieces that will include performances by James Taylor.

Brian Whistler has been performing around the bay area for 25 years. He has composed music for modern dance performances with the Ann Woodhead Dance Company and has scored independent and corporate films. Both a jazz pianist and vibist, he became fascinated with balinese music in 1994 and has been making trips to study music there over the past seven years. This is his first release under his own name

Product Description
Forgotten Voices is a truly unique take on blending jazz, world and pop styles without conforming to the bland strictures of much of today's smooth jazz format.

Some of the great musicians on this record include multi reedman Paul McCandless (Oregon), bassist Gary Brown (Airto), percussionist Marquinho Brasil (Jose Neto, Mariah Carey), drummer Walfredo Reyes Jr (Santana, Steve Winwood) pianist Kit Walker(Kitaro, Jai Uttal) and 20 other great players.

As instrumentally strong as this record is, the focus is on original songs as sung by vocalist/classical guitarist Pablo Rodriguez. Although Pablo is obviously influenced by great singers like Al Jarreau. Stevie Wonder and Bobby McFerrin (who he has studied with,) he is gifted with something very rare, a signature voice all his own. Behind Rodriguez' vocals is the equally unique and compelling writing and arranging of Brian Whistler, a seasoned jazz pianist who has composed for film and TV. A team for 15 years, this is their first release and it has been worth the wait.

In this genre bending CD the listener is taken on a journey with stylistic stops in Brasil, Africa and Bali, with an occasional dose of good old R&B and american folk/pop elements thrown in. As eclectic as this mix sounds, the sequence of songs serves to meld the CD into a fascinationg and coherent work.

Forgotten Voices,Brian Whistler & Pablo Rodriguez, eartrek,An original, eclectic blend of jazz and pop with world flavors from Bali to Brazil. Meaty compositions with strong vocals and intricate textures featuring Oregon multi reedman, Paul McCandless
