About the Artist
Composer/pianist Scott Warner has amassed a wide range of experience in both the classical and jazz fields. He holds the Doctoral degree in Composition from the University of Michigan where he was teaching assistant to Pulitzer prize-winning composers Leslie Bassett and William Bolcom. For the composition of both classical and jazz music Mr. Warner has received grants and awards from The Minnesota, Michigan, and Iowa Councils for the Arts, The Jerome Foundation of Minneapolis, and many, many others. Most recently, Mr. Warner was commissioned to write a work for the internationally-renowned Eroica Trio, a group nominated for best classical Grammy in 2000.

As pianist, Scott Warner has performed on the concert stage and in the recording studio at the highest professional level in virtually every imaginable keyboard setting. A member of the prestigious chamber music school of the Cleveland Orchestra, and for twenty-five years a regular piano recitalist, he now focuses primarily on jazz piano performance. While at the University of Michigan, Mr. Warner was pianist with both the New Music Ensemble and the Faculty Jazz Quartet. In 1999 he was invited to perform a series of workshops in improvisation at the Moscow Conservatory in Russia.

Scott Warner is currently Assistant Professor of Jazz Studies and Music Theory at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Jimmy Greene is saxophonist with Harry Connick's big band, and has toured or recorded with Horace Silver, Tom Harrell, and many others.

Rodney Whitaker is bassist with Wynton Marsalis and the Linclon Center Orchestra. He performs regularly with nearly all living jazz greats.

Gerald Cleaver is one of the most in-demand trio drummers on the scene today. He has toured or recorded with Tommy Flanagan, Roscoe Mitchell, Jacky Terrasson, and many others.
