About the Artist
Miguel Pineda-Van Gelder, of Mexican-American origins, is well-known in Parisian circles where he studied Musicology at the Sorbonne. His interpretation of these forgotten ragtime pieces is based on extensive research in the field.
Product Description
Second in the series of Forgotten Ragtime pieces, A Ragtime Feast: Forgotten Rags #2 is dedicated to the most popular ragtime composer: Scott Joplin. The quality of the recording, done in Paris France, is to be noted. The album includes "Euphonic Sounds" (Joplin challenges even the best with this piece in which the left-hand takes on a life of its own) and "The Chrysanthemum: An Afro-American Intermezzo" (a beautifully sad and pensive piece, too long forgotten). The diverse range of the 16 pieces chosen for this album allows for a very pleasant listening experience without the monotony that can often plague this genre.
