Keen rhythmic sense, inflection and tone to her voice...she grooves...beautifully delivered...a hip hour with a musician's singer!
Product Description
A collection of classic vocal jazz and pop standards performed in an interesting variety of musical settings. A must for the creative classic music collector. The album starts with a smooth latin style arrangement of Hal David and Burt Bacharach's The Look Of Love. Erika's sensual vocals and unique vocal timing is complimented by a quartet of compassionate players and beautiful flute work. On track 2, the instrumentation changes to the guitar, bass and vocal trio as Erika's sweet vocal style delivers a wide spectrum of emotions and feelings on Capote/Arlen's classic standard, A Sleepin' Bee. On track 3, the instrumentation changes again to the sax, piano, bass drums quartet as Erika's vocals float, reflect and toy with the final answer to Grand/Boyd's question and song title, Guess Who I Saw Today. On track 4, Erika's vocals spunk up Green's old time jazz classic, Body and Soul with a sensitive guitar and bass bossa nova accompaniment. On track 5, Erika sits at the Yamaha CF6 9 foot concert grand piano to play and sing this hauntingly beautiful and obscurely rare song by Hoagy Carmichael with bass, drum and sax accompaniment. On track 6, this upbeat and fun arrangement of Kern/Fields' popular standard The Way You Look Tonight is a toe-tapping, playful rendition, showcasing superb piano, bass and vocal interaction. Finally, track 7 delivers a live bonus track where Erika's steamy, soulful vocals heat up the all-time favorite Gershwin Brothers' classic, Summertime, to the sensitive and supportive accompaniment of guitar and bass.
