About the Artist
Peter Kopera - Pianist
Hails from Buffalo, NY. A classically trained pianist, Peter is a graduate of the Crane School of Music, SUNY at Potsdam, has studied at the Birmingham Conservatoire, Birmingham, England, the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and is currently in a Masters program at Eastern Michigan University. Peter has studied jazz piano with Dr. Billy Taylor (Jazz at Kennedy Center/NPR) and Vince Maggio (University of Miami) and cites Keith Jarrett, Lyle Mays and Aaron Copland as his main musical influences. Peter has performed with Dave Samuels, Dennis DeBlasio, Alvester Garnett, Sherman Irby, Ralphe Armstrong, Jaribu Shahid and George Benson among many others.
Lou Smoltz - Bassist
A native of Walled Lake, MI. Lou is a classically trained cellist and bassist and has studied with Robert Gladstone (DSO), Dan Pliskow (Wayne State University), Rich Kowalewski (Oakland University) and George Benson (Wayne State University). Lou is very active as a sideman in southeastern Michigan and has worked within groups led by Bill Heid, Larry Smith, Gary Bloomer, Harvey Reed and Scott Ryder among many others. Lou plays bass on the Keith Javors 2000 CD release entitled "From Here to the Street". Lou also has a self produced CD recording entitled The Eclectic, which showcases original compositions and custom made quarter tone guitars and basses.
Felice Bernardara - Percussionist
Grew up in Allen Park, MI and currently resides in Grosse Ile, MI. Felice has been studying and performing on percussion since the age of 9. A veteran and in-demand musician, Felice has developed a unique drumming style that covers many genres of music and is proficient in rock, latin and jazz. His talents have propelled musical acts such as The Drifters, The Platters and many Detroit area big bands.
