About the Artist
Falkner Evans hails from Tulsa, Oklahoma, a city that was once part of a thriving southwestern Jazz club circuit through which Evans was exposed to some of the greats when he was fairly young. Evans, lamenting the 1980's demise of that southwestern circuit, was prompted in 1985 to relocate to New York City. He had begun exploring the New York City Jazz scene in 1977 and knew that there he could get the mentroship he wanted from those who no longer could tour to Tulsa. Before the move, Evans did a four-year touring and recording stint with the Grammy-winning western swing band Asleep At The Wheel. Musically it wasn't exactly what he wanted, but it did open him up to the world of dues paying road house touring that jazz artists were cut out of by the mid '80's........Sid Whelan
