NEW CHRISTMAS CD LIGHTS UP THE 2002 HOLIDAY SEASON
JENNIFER STANLEY CELEBRATES CHRISTMAS 2002 WITH A NEW CD FEATURING JAZZ-GREAT FRANK PUZZULLO
November 4, 2002 Following the success of her first CD release, Where I Want To Be, Jennifer Stanley, is pleased to present a new holiday CD: "Christmas". Released on Tuesday, November 4th, the new CD is a collection of eleven holiday classics arranged by jazz-great Frank Puzzullo. Hans Sturm, who played upright bass on the CD, also made contributions to the arrangements.
The acoustic-jazz "Christmas" shines with vocals by jazz newcomer, Jennifer Stanley. The arrangements take the well-known songs and add an element of newness listeners can appreciate. The straightforward groove of "Joy To The World" and "Let It Snow" are classic, but the listener finds fresh versions of What Child Is This, Silent Night, and Jingle Bells. She adds her own signature to classic holiday melodies in songs like Jingle Bells, Sleigh Ride, and Winter Wonderland.
Stanleys angelic voice is beautifully paired with a live string section in Have Yourself A Merry Christmas and The Christmas Song.
"This classic, acoustic style of jazz has always been a favorite of mine and I love Christmas music, so this was a perfect project," said Stanley. "Frank Puzzullo and Hans Sturms contributions are significant; their music allowed me to explore many options vocally and come up with something I am proud to present to the listener."
"The rhythm section preferred to retain the essence of each tune with Jennifers melodic resourcefulness, the trios diverse rhythmic patterns, and a strong command of variegated harmonic textures. The combination of the trios concept of these Christmas standards provides an unmistakable approach that is both new and fresh and persistently stimulating, said Puzzullo. "Jennifers assertive virility is a dominant factor because she listens, taking advantage of every salient moment in the music."
Stanley will feature music from "Christmas" during a holiday appearance with The Muncie Symphony Orchestra as a guest vocalist on December 7, 2002. Tickets are available at the Ball State box office or through Ticket Master.Listeners can check out several sound clips at the WWW site as well.
"Christmas" is the first holiday album to be released by the independent recording artist from Muncie, Ind. Joining Stanley and Puzzullo on "Christmas" is Hans Sturm, upright bass, Muncie, Ind.; Dane Richeson, drums, Milwaukee, Wis.; and Tim Berens, guitar, Dayton, Ohio.
Jennifer Stanley is a recording artist from Muncie, Indiana. Her first solo project, "Where I Want To Be" was released September 16, 2001. The initial project has sold very well for an Independent artist. Jennifer is currently working with Margaret Becker, nine time Dove Award winner, on her next solo project. Jennifer has performed in numerous communities across the Midwest, as well as nationally. A few of her special performances were at the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. shortly after September 11, 2001 and the Crystal Cathedral in California.
