About the Artist
Kakalla is an ensemble dedicated to the fusion of jazz improvisation with chamber music, rock, the avant-garde, Balkan folk music, and other ethnic influences. Exploring original compositions, the band weaves sonic tapestries ranging from lyrical tone poems to ethnic folk songs to all out cacophony. Retaining the core of improvisation within intricate composition, the group creates a music all their own: "the kakalla."
